I've been thinking, and UT should use the #29 as a reward for the player with the best leadership qualities or most community service hours. It should be an privilege to wear #29 in honor of Inky.

Did I just imagine that already happening? Just not been announced who it was yet. I swear somebody posted that they were going to do a Chucky Mullins-type thing for #29.

That's actually a really good point. People need to keep the word "progress" in mind with this team and staff at the start of the season. After the first two games, the strength of our schedule rivals anyone in the country, through October.

Unfortunately, given the status of the program, the way we end our season is huge, especially with the games you mentioned, Auburn an Vandy.

On 104.5 in Nashville today they were talking about how brutal our schedule is after some idiot ohio st fan called in and said they'd run the table in the sec with our schedule. According to whatever poll was released today we play five teams in the top 10 during a six week stretch in our schedule (Ouch!).

So anyways, all the guys at 104.5 pretty much agreed that the best ohio st would do if they had to play those five games is 3-2. Then Chris Lowe came on and they asked him the same question and he said the same thing, best case scenario, osu would go 3-2. Honestly, seemed like Lowe and the guys at 104.5 were all close to saying best case scenario would be osu going 2-3. Lowe went on to say how he didn't think any team in the country could win all five of those games during a six week stretch. Nobody.

Just wanted to share this about how brutal our schedule is so hopefully people can hold off on the fire Butch crap if the season starts out rough.

I think they've already started something like that for the number 29. As far as the surprise and Inky tomorrow, I'd guess CBJ offers him a job to be a part of the program in some way.

I just can't believe a OSU fan thinks we dont have a hard schedule. We would have went 12-0 or something like that with their "tough" schedule last year. they get a cakewalk every year. And when they schedule a decent team like USC they lose both games. It's a joke

Just heard tonight, even though JRM is somewhat still recovering from injury, he has had a great summer.

Said he logs almost 3-4 miles a day. It's never the same routine. One day it's sprints, the other day it's long distance. Everything is a competition... even warm ups.

He was really frustrated about his injury and he fell behind right off the bat. He said Terry Fair has been very helpful.... showing him technique, footwork, and especially in the film room.

He said out of all the players to help him, Randolph and Sapp have been the most approachable. He said Sapp is just a good guy and knows not only where he is suppose to be on every play, but also where everybody else should be.

As far as weightlifting goes, he was hampered a little bit, of course. However, he's benching 325 and squatting 410. Said he can curl 60 lb dumb bells lol

And if you think JRM is an animal in the weight room, just imagine Corey Vereen. Whole 'nother level

Weighing in on the TEMPERED EXPECTATIONS, and concerns from both Vol fans and rivals that if we lose a to be determined threshold of games, we'll be elbowing for position to jump off the most effective bridge....I ask this. Before last season, as in previous seasons, I felt confident and excited...this was the season that Dooley puts it together. Healthy explosive offense and solid defense with a firebrand hungry DC,who was indoctrinated in that Saban machine....HOW COULD WE LOSE?....wellwedid...and...often. Point? By midseason, it was obvious that our Vols were going nowhere. Our coach was surely gone and no way in Hades was recruiting going to be a diversion while other teams bowled...our previous respite...and somehow, through the pain, WE KEPT GOING...cuz it's football...a game we love and cultivate in our lives...LIVES! We have those things and we keep doing that life thing....even and especially when our favorite team blows. The majority of Vol fans backed Dooley until the middle of last season...when he FINALLY convinced us that his plan didn't hold water...orange Kool-Aid drinkers that call for the coaches head after a few losses?...How does that jibe with this fan base...WHO fought off strokes and general heart palpitations with the the LSU travesty and Music City BLOW that first year?...these guys. Who saw our team consistently quit or tire after halftime almost every game, and then lose to one of the worst Kentucky teams in history...WITH A FREAKING WR AT QB...theseguys. Who went right back into the stink last year, with a team that mostly quit BEFORE HALFTIME, and endured probably the WORST coaching display in our storied history?....theseguys. So, in summary, don't tell us to sit on our hands and not get excited at this energy that Butch has brought into our program because we can't handle results...let the results happen...we're awesome handling them...who do you NOT need to worry about?....theseguys. GO VOLS...BRICK BY BRICK!

"Quarterback Justin Worley is 5 pounds heavier or so, but he's down about 2% in terms of his body fat. Basically everyone on the squad is down in their body fat, but no one is down more that Daniel McCullers who tipped the scales around 355 pounds to start fall camp.

While a guy like McCullers is down in size freshman defensive end Corey Vereen is 20 pounds heavier than he was in the spring. Vereen, who continues to draw praise from his teammates, now tips the scales a little over 250 pounds."

"Also noticeable this week from the Vols has been an absence of jewelry worn by the players. We're told to expect the Vols to be earring- and headphone-free during the 'Vol Walk' each week to Neyland Stadium, as Jones drives home the point to his players that they be respectful of the fans who come out en masse to show support."

"Speaking of merchandise, as we've continued to outline Tennessee is in the process of examining and then negotiating its apparel deal moving forward, with its pact with adidas set to expire following the 2014-15 athletic calendar but resolution coming well before then. Both Nike and Under Armour have emerged as serious players, and VolQuest.com has been told that coaches in Tennessee's spring sports have been urged to order their needed items but to focus on simply ordering replacements from a year ago and not to branch out into all-new items."

Thanks for posting. All sounds great. Where'd you hear this - VQ?

I'm hopeful that we will look back on this 2013 class and say it exceeded its ranking. Seems we've picked up some quality players with very good work ethics.

Great news. On McCullers, I was surprised CBJ singled him out in the presser this week. Basically said this team will be as good as Dan McCullers. Some may have taken that as a call to lower our expectations. I took it the opposite. Made me think CBJ believes Big Dan has the potential to be such a disruptive force, he could help us do big things. We will see.

I'm really good friends with a guy that trained JRM in HS. He talks to JRM about twice a week now.

Agreed 100%. There's a new passion to UT and everybody is hungry. No more of this 5 wins and getting completely embarrassed in games. Just a whole different attitude and confidence.

Great. Keep sharing. JRM is a player I like in that class that I haven't heard much about. Glad he's doing well. Seems we will be stacked at safety come next year at this time.
