'14 JUCO DT Davonte Lambert (Auburn Commit 12/18/13)

If all recruits thought like this CP would have been a dawg last year

I clearly didn't say they did. I said if you are a juco you should look to go somewhere where you can play or contribute day 1 due to how much eligibility you have left. Think what you want but I'm sure most everyone here agrees.

CP did not have to worry about playing time, He had playing time virtually anywhere and everywhere IMO.

CP had a much better shot at a starting gig at UGA than UT. I'm glad he chose the Vols. Sometimes things like this work in your favor, sometimes they don't. You never know what kids are thinking and why.

When did Lambert announce that UGA leads? His last communication suggested UT and UF were in the lead for his recruitment.

He was a ga lean until the fla visit. Probably why all his 'predictions' were all ga. His last communication mentioned UT and ga, not fla. Need to get him on campus for a game before he announces.

As of July 2nd per Brent Hubbs:

The Georgia Military Institute defensive end took an official visit to Rocky Top in late June and after two officials to Tennessee and Florida Lambert has the Gators and the Vols as his top two schools

I don't read anything from rivals.

Abu Lamin's article yesterday mentioned on more than one occasion that Davonte Lambert was not only in communication with him but encouraging him to take his UT visit. Sounds as if he was almost recruiting him to Tennessee. To me, if both of these guys committed, it would be a huge coup and could give us an extended play in 2014 and 2015 to build depth in the interior D-line for the 2016 season and beyond.

The perfect stop gap until O'brien and Carr take over.

O'Brien will be two years removed from high school in 2014, just like Lambert and Lamin. He should be competing with them for a starting position.

Auburn where he was visiting this weekend picked up a commitment from Devaroe Lawrence so hopefully they arent taking more JUCO DT's

Edit: Just saw this is one of his teammates, maybe not good.

Didn't AU take Ben Bradley and Toby Johnson from last year?

I think AU got Bradley and UGA got Johnson. Had we pushed and kept on them, I think we could have had both. I think the Carl Lawson love may have hurt us with those 2. Also losing the GA did not help. There were ACL concerns with Johnson. He looks good to go for UGA now. I saw a video of him the other day on their campus doing backflips at over 300lbs.

Passing on Bradley and Johnson were mistakes.

Kind of funny if you look at what 247 just did. The DT commitment AU just got was unrated. He commits to AU and they rank him the #5 Juco DT and make him a 4 star. No other offers. No other visits. Automatic 4 star.
