i've just read a couple of the last pages,why would Josh have a beef with Hurd ? is it just some comment made out of hand or is there more ? he looks like he will be a great player for the Vols,i can't imagine there being a problem between the two

Word is they just never clicked. The other word is there is a very slim chance we land Malone.

I'm wondering given the negativity this board has toward landing Malone why 2 predictions were made yesterday to Tn I know crystal ball is not very accurate but still us feel decent about our chances.

thanks for the reply OddFuture,i hope Josh isn't basing this off a problem with Hurd,man up and work thru it,there will be people you can't stand,that you will have to work with in the future,grow a big pair of Orange ones and come to UT lol

Probably just two high-school "alpha" males that just so happen to be on the offensive side of the ball, and Malone doesn't want a challenger of his hierarchical status. Whatever, I'd take Hurd over Malone any day.

If it's one thing I've learned from Malone, it's that he is very business like in the way he handles his recruitment. It was clear before that people felt we were in pretty good standing with Malone, now the tune has changed and people are writing UT off little...well, judging by some of the posts in this thread, some of you are completely writing off UT. All I can say at this point is that he seems like he's handling his recruitment wisely keeping things open. UT and UGA will get official visits, that much I'm sure of. Malone has legit interest in UT, probably more than he does in Vandy, considering he has visited about 8 or 9 times now. Just my opinion, but I think we are definite contenders, more-so than people are giving us credit for on here. The Vols are in his top 5, I think and he will continue to take recruitment slow, go through the entire recruiting process, take all his official visits, make extra visits etc before making his decision (which I believe is to be in Oct or Nov IIRC). I firmly believe a spot will be waiting for him if he so decides to choose us. And if a spot isn't there, you make one because you don't pass on an elite in state receiver who has a chance for early playing time. Malone is still a very high priority target for TN and we are still in it for him. He's visited UT over 8 times and Georgia about twice, so despite being high on Georgia after the visit, it doesn't mean much. He might change his tune after the 3rd, 4th, or 5th visit who knows. Point is, there is still a long way to go so there is no need to write Malone off so suddenly.

UGA, Clemson, UT, ND, Vandy...no one really knows where this kid is going.

Malone and Hurd are both great players and would be awesome to have both on. Impressed by the way they have handled themselves with class and maturity, in spite of message board chatter.

That said, as Coach Z mentioned: "Every brick must be aligned and have the other bricks best interest in mind as well"

One way or another, we will only get the pieces of the puzzle that fit together into the championship mold. Primadonna's not welcome! Can't wait for the blue collar workman-like attitude coming in the Fall.

Going with early quotes is very telling in following the recruiting process and very early on Malone, Gaulden, and Kelly talked of playing together at the next level. Malone is very close with Gaulden and if Gaulden opts for the Vols, it is very good for landing Malone IMO.

Same goes with Derek Barnett (& Gaulden), the two are close and want to play together at the next level from what I've heard.

Like any great WR out there, they are waiting to see what the QB situation will look like. I would be the same way. If I want to get to the next level, then I want to make sure the QB situation is stable and legit.

Then he should already know, because it will most likely be one of Dobbs, Ferguson, or Peterman throwing to him. I just don't think that argument holds any water, and if it does it shouldn't.

I asked "little wing" if he had any insight on the Hurd/ Malone beef. His response,

"Broseph, it goes back a little ways. I Hurd they were in big earl's BBQ shack back in 03'. Hurd had his sammich wit vinegar based sauce, and Malone asked the waitress if they had any tomato based sauce. Neither of them have ever gotten over that moment, believing their choice of sauce is Alpha. Both got slaw though." -per little wing

I find this all very comical...

Fact is, Jalen and Josh do not even know each other (only in passing). When I asked Jalen about his feud with Josh, he laughed and said "what feud"? Jalen's a very social and outgoing young man. For the ones on this board that have spent any amount of time with him at all, they will agree with how personable and polite he is. I do believe that he, as well as other recruits, were offended when Josh acted distant towards them when they tried to reach out to him. I've heard "thinks he's better than everyone, stuck up, acted like a douche, etc" from the guys, but to say that there is "beef" between the two is just false. They just do not know each other well enough to have any beef.

If he doesn't like Jalen, it is because he is jealous of him. Plain and simple. He probably shouldn't make it a point to be ill towards him though as Jalen will be playing safety this year. :dance2: He will hurt a few feelings.
