'14 GA CB D.J. Smith

He gets mad love but he doesn't talk a lot so there's not too much to talk about him right now. We lead. Hopefully it stays that way.

Never really understood why this dude doesn't get more love on here. He could be a monumental pick up.

Hard to give him any love when he hasn't given an interview in a while. Some players are just quiet throughout the process. Malone is another example. Alvin Kamara is an example last year.

“I like Clemson and Tennessee a lot right now,” he said. “Besides that, I’m liking Florida and Georgia, too.”*

Clemson: I like, mostly, that I can try to come up there and start, or get some early playing time. I like that the most. The coaches are telling me about graduation rate and stuff. If I don’t make it in football, I can graduate as a student-athlete.*

Tennessee: The coaching staff is different. The facilities are different. It’s just a different atmosphere than other places I’ve been, so I like that.*

“I’m going to try to ride it out all the way to the end, like signing day,” Smith said. “Maybe, if I’m in the Under Armour game or Army game, I could surprise people with a hat or something. I’ve always wanted to do that.”*

“Not too far away from my home. That’s one. Best fit, for two. Then, playing time. Those are my top three factors right there,” he said.*

Serious question: how homerish is Clemson Scout? I know USC for Rivals ain’t worth paper it’s printed on. Everybody there is going to be a friggin’ Gamecock. He sounds to very much be likin’ him some Clemson, so I wonder if that’s just because the writer sees everything through wrong color Orange glasses. How homerific are they?

It’s looking more and more like Berry will be one of the elite corners in this class. I would love to get two (namely Smith or Gaulden).

The worst on scout are UNC, ND, and Michigan. Clemson/ UT are basically even it seems. Clemson has as much to offer as UT to him right now, other than being in the SEC. Going to be a battle but I think we get it done

He is likely waiting to see what other CB commits we get and other teams.

I’m not sure how I forgot Payne was already committed. By my calculations, there’s only three spots left in the secondary. That sounds like a lot, but there will only be three Seniors in the whole DB group, and no corners who are classified as Junior.

Still, a player from this class could be starting in 2015.

Truitt as an ATH

We aren't on Tabor's radar anymore. I'm also in the minority in that I think we stand little chance with Jackson. My dream (realistic) DB haul is similar:

Payne
Kelly Jr
Green
Dj Smith
McDowell
Gaulden
Berry

And when we steal E. Smith we move him to Lb.

McDowell
Gaulden

We aren't going to take these 9 under our current circumstances....

I think you are going to have to trim at least one of those DBs off the list and potentially two if we take Berry as a DB as well

I actually agree. I think we take 6 Db total (including the ATHs).

Wharton will start WR, imo. Berry is the wildcard in terms of position. Will he play CB or offense? I'd hate to have to turn away a DJ Smith or Wesley Green (which imo, you NEVER turn them away).

When did Tabor say something in regards to us not being on his radar anymore?

This may be a question for Ron or someone who has inside info but how does our board look on DBs? Who's at the top and how does the order go from there?
