I will be doing the same real soon.
I will use a backhoe though.

We dug a pit and filled it with gravel. Trenched fromthe problem area to the pit. Put a piece of pipe covered with a "sock" and ran it to the pit. Then we covered it with gravel and then filled it all back in with dirt. Only cost me 400.00. That included the leveling for the pool, some clearing and scraping, seed, fertilizer, and straw.
 
Cheaper and cleaner than having most of my backyard tore up to have new fill lines put in. That's what I'll have to do if this doesn't work.

If you did that, then you can do your fill lines. Do the 8in pipe. Stay away from the old black 6in pipe. I also am not a fan of the infeltrater system.

If it comes to that, I may give it a shot. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it doesn't though.
