IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

Its the fault of the head of the IRS when this was going on.

A Bush appointee.

But Marco Rubio wants to fire the new guy, who came on after it had stopped. Brilliant.

And also a person who has only donated to democratic party. You are so ridiculous sometimes.

Your partisanship is great.

POTUS doesn't run the IRS.

Shulman did.

LG, others laugh at you as you twist yourself into a pretzel trying to defend the Obama administration. Some here think you're not that bright (namely TRUT). I feel sorry for you, because I think you are unprincipled.

You care more about trying to defend Obama than you do about what actually went on here. This is corruption at the highest level.

Not only was the IRS used to bully specific groups whose beliefs didn't align with the current administration, some of them had their private information passed outside of the IRS so that they could be smeared in the media.

Yet you care more about protecting the Obama administration. It's disgusting.

It was Julian bond. Wasn't he the last prez. That's how he is the emeritus chair

I see. Regardless, I don't agree with a single word he said. Nothing bothers me more than someone who claims racism when there is none present. To say the Tea Party is "admittedly racist" is borderline retarded. There are probably racist people in the Tea Party, just like there are racist conservatives and racist democrats (some of whom are black and in the NAACP, ironically enough).

Well Duh

ABC political analyst Trey Hardin said Tuesday that he believes the IRS scandal emanates from the west wing of the White House.

Trey Hardin: “I will tell you this on the IRS front. I’ve worked in this town for over 20 years in the White House and on Capitol Hill and I can say with a very strong sense of certainty that there are people very close to this president that not only knew what the IRS were doing but authorized it. It simply just does not happen at an agency level like that without political advisers likely in the West Wing certainly connected to the president’s ongoing campaign organization.”

This is funny, calling him an "ABC political analyst."

He's a GOP strategist who appears on ABC!! Come on, people, let's slow down and work off of what is known, and what is learned. Jesus, people are just absolutely leaving the facts behind on this.

You are just mad that your boy is starting to lose the press and the house is starting to crumble. And you have no solid answers. Stop grabbing for straws.

Hey stupid. A GOP strategist that appears on abc is a political analyst. If a democrat strategist appeared on fox. They are still a political analyst. You are trying to downplay everything because you know it is all falling apart. And these midterms are not looking like you will want them to with the way it is all coming apart.

First, it is an effort by right wing bloggers to make it look like he is just some major network reporter who is saying the WH had to be involved.

Second, its a guy just guessing. He even says he's just guessing.

There was some conservative guy on the news this morning, can't recall who, saying that he is very worried that the right wing bloggers are actually giving Obama cover on this by going waaaay too far, waaay to fast, with no facts behind them. All they do is give Obama and his defenders proof that the outrage is overdone.

Absolutely correct. Titles like the above, which are misleading at best, and simply false in most cases, just give easy fodder to the administration to roll its eyes at the whole thing.

Let's let the investigations occur and see if there is any evidence that someone in the WH masterminded this, as this "ABC political analyst" says. I really tend to doubt it.

But hey, if so, then I'll be right there with you calling for a major shake up. If not, guys like this can just shrug it off and look for the next scandal to make a name for himself, sell some books.

I thought you said it was low level employees, not the head, who were responsible.

That was so yesterday, just like it was just going on out of the Cincinnati office.

Tomorrow it will be "can't be any higher than the Sec of the Treasury".

NPR has been all over this. And isn't ABC a Disney-owned company, which skews toward the left? Maybe I am wrong. Also said on NPR yesterday that Dems in the senate are 'concerned' as well and are wanting answers. Yup, seems all right-winged to me...

The thing about both the IRS and AP report stories that you have to remember is that the White House has to keep those two at arm's length, precisely because of things like Watergate.

I have every confidence that the GOP committees will look under every rock they can to see if there is any reason to REALLY think that the WH had anything to do with it.

The WH reporters, that is awfully far fetched. And funny thing is, it was GOPers going on the talk shows, along with the likes of Diane Feinstein, at the time expressing outrage over the leak and demanding that it be found. Per DOJ, they interviewed 550 people in that investigation.

Dumb for the deputy AG to subpoena the AP phone records? No doubt. And I would prefer that they had at least taken it to a judge, with input from AP. But somehow orchestrated by the WH? That's just silly -- no reason.

The IRS thing hits closer to home because you can say the WH would have motive to do it, i.e. to target political opponents. As I say, that would be horrendous if true. That's not just firing offense, that's criminal in my mind. But so far there is no evidence of that.

If you see some, let me know.
