Vanderbilt assistant responds angrily

You are very salty towards Virginia Tech. Did you not get admitted or something? Virginia Tech was an independent and used to suck, yes. Now, they don't suck. It's really a very simple concept.

Yes, they do.

1) Yea... UT can't beat Louisville in any sport this season. Your point? Whether or not it's due to underachieving or just not being good enough, they're not racking up wins against the Cardinals.

It's not like UT and Louisville are competing on a yearly basis in any sport. This makes no sense.

2) Butch Jones beat Louisville when Louisville was in a rebuilding period, much like Tennessee's current rebuilding period. Butch Jones may get Tennessee back to being a team that can beat Louisville but, this season, there would be no chance.

Louisville will never be anything more than a second-rate football program in a second-rate conference.

UT is a Top 25 coaching gig. It is not a Top 20 coaching gig. I provided you a list of twenty schools that have either a significant recruiting advantage (something that makes a job good because your job is easier), a better path to a BCS bowl or national championship (also makes a job better) or a combination of both.

Tennessee can win national titles, that much is obvious. When Tennessee is doing well, they move up the good ob ladder. Unfortunately, right now, the Vols suck. It's a hard place to win big since you're recruiting out of state talent (Butch is doing great at this) and dealing with the toughest conference in America. There is a reason that Tennessee hasn't been able to get a big name coach like you've deluded yourself into thinking that you deserve.

P.S. ESPN just came out with their Top 25. Louisville sits at #4. I'll leave you with this gem.

That ranking won't last. You all will shyt the bed against someone.

"Is there a hotter athletics department in the country than Louisville right now?"

Alabama.

Hell, in five years you'll probably be looking up at Louisville as they become one of the Top 20 jobs in college football!

I'm not a Tennessee fan by any means, but they'll be back sooner or later. UL isn't a better job now, and it sure as hell won't be when UT climbs back to being a national power.

.

Hey, look, South Carolina! Another program that was an absolute nobody 20 years ago and has now become a decent team! Seems like there are a lot of those now...

because, you know, your past doesn't dictate your future. Tennessee should by all means return to the limelight, but it's not a guarantee. A few more bad seasons coupled with increased South Carolina success and it'll be even more difficult for the Vols.

Also, please return to this thread in December when Louisville is undefeated and in line to play for the national title. Maybe you'll be in the SEC championship game then; who knows.

All I do know is that Tennessee sure as hell isn't going to be gunning for Atlanta this year.

Twenty years ago? Try ten. We've not been around long.

because, you know, your past doesn't dictate your future.

No, but it can serve as a pretty good indicator of what to expect.

Tennessee should by all means return to the limelight, but it's not a guarantee.

Nothing in life is.

A few more bad seasons coupled with increased South Carolina success and it'll be even more difficult for the Vols.

UT has had their downs and we will have ours again. Things in football go in cycles.

Also, please return to this thread in December when Louisville is undefeated and in line to play for the national title.

I'll come back for crow if that happens, but I'm not expecting it.

Maybe you'll be in the SEC championship game then; who knows.

Our schedule sets up nicely sans trips to Athens, Fayetteville, and Knoxville.

All I do know is that Tennessee sure as hell isn't going to be gunning for Atlanta this year.

Of course not. They lack the depth and the talent to sustain that sort of run this year. They are coming off one of the worst runs in school history.

You guys don't play anyone of note now, and your schedule is only going to get tougher when you begin ACC play. I've been wrong before, but I'll be surprised if you guys hang around long. It's easy to be successful when you don't play anyone.

.

So, "underachievement" doesn't effect the quality of a coaching job, but UT's past 4 years does... Totally logical.

And a potential new coach, eventually, effects the quality of a coaching job, but UT currently having a new coach, with a 2/1 winning percentage against your coach doesn't... Totally logical.
And the only loss was in overtime.

The ACC isn't full of world-beaters by any means, but you're 100% correct. Louisville will have a much more difficult schedule starting in the 2014 season. They might be able to recruit better in the ACC, granted, but that advantage is offset by the difficulty of playing Clemson/FSU/VT/Notre Dame/Miami as opposed to USF and Temple.

Louisville will remain relevant provided Charlie Strong is at the helm of the program. If he leaves, Louisville needs to throw a big bag of money at someone else similarly skilled. Louisville's not quite a Top 30 job, but that athletic department is steamrolling towards being one of the premier forces in the NCAA.

You are very salty towards Virginia Tech. Did you not get admitted or something? Virginia Tech was an independent and used to suck, yes. Now, they don't suck. It's really a very simple concept.

That was his point, knucklehead. Your illogical drivel said that VTech has underachieved under their current coach. Do you even know what "underachieve" under their current coach means? Hint: It doesn't mean "have the best years in their memorable history".

1) Yea... UT can't beat Louisville in any sport this season. Your point? Whether or not it's due to underachieving or just not being good enough, they're not racking up wins against the Cardinals.

They don't play each other. You are making useless arguments as a red herring to divert attention away from your irrational arguments.

2) Butch Jones beat Louisville when Louisville was in a rebuilding period, much like Tennessee's current rebuilding period. Butch Jones may get Tennessee back to being a team that can beat Louisville but, this season, there would be no chance.

Would be... That sure is an easy statement to make. Tell me again what UL's record is against UT's coach? But this is another red herring. Are you ready to admit your irrational arguments per coaching jobs, underachievement and the effects of new coaches?

UT is a Top 25 coaching gig. It is not a Top 20 coaching gig. I provided you a list of twenty schools that have either a significant recruiting advantage (something that makes a job good because your job is easier), a better path to a BCS bowl or national championship (also makes a job better) or a combination of both.

Built into that top 20 list was a combination of contradictory points that a seven year old would recognize as illogical and stupid. Care to discuss the contradictions yet? You haven't so far.

Translation: UL's coach was scared of a manly schedule, so he stayed in a weak conference where he can play easy schedules and hope for the stars to line up.

I find it interesting that your logic is: UT moves up when they are good, but not so when they struggle. Then (see your argument below), look how UL moves up to #4 in the ESPN preseason rankings now that we're 'good'.

Isn't it that way for everyone, nimrod? The problem is your first sentence. When UT is good, we win and compete for championships. When UL is good, you crow about what bowl game you went to.

P.S. ESPN just came out with their Top 25. Louisville sits at #4. I'll leave you with this gem.

Lane Kiffin and USC started last year at #1 too. lol But I understand your excitement. It's easy to get overly excited when you haven't been there often.

(PS: Care to discuss your contradictions, or do you prefer red herrinigs only?)

"Is there a hotter athletics department in the country than Louisville right now?"

By "hotter athletics department", do you really mean the school in an easy conference, with easier schedules, that tries to parlay that to an easier path to BCS games? Is what they mean by "hotter"? Or is it just the UL fans that admit they prefer cream puff schedules instead the brutality that is our conference? (Isn't that what you said makes schools a better destination?)

Hell, in five years you'll probably be looking up at Louisville as they become one of the Top 20 jobs in college football!

lol... "Probably" is another easy phrase to use. In five years, UL will probably be in the ACC getting their asses handed to them by the second tier conference, instead of holding their own in the third tier.

Good evening to you. How about change your name to "Red Herring".

:hi:

Good evening to you. How about change your name to "Red Herring".

:hi:

Boy, you really do like to use the term "red herring." What, is that the only thing that stuck with you from Intro to Rhetoric at Nashville State?

Anyway, here's my original post in this thread.

The standards are lower at Vanderbilt because they're less accustomed to success. Which, of course, begs the question about how the vaunted University of Tennessee is feeling about a probable fourth-consecutive losing season.

And, of course, any reply that doesn't directly answer my initial taunting of UT is a "red herring."

So, I'll answer for you since no one really bothered to do so directly. You're feeling very worried about a fourth-consecutive losing season and, in an effort to detract from the issue at hand, like to discuss a period in time when UT didn't have a bad football program.

Feel free to alert me if and when UT actually starts becoming relevant again. Thanks!

Actually, one thing that should stick out to anyone participating in public debate is: When someone tries to confuse the points in discussion, keep the discussion to the points.

Reminder: The points I brought up to you, which you have refused to speak to, are the contradictions in your argument. You can reread the thread to see my efforts to point the contradictions out to you.

The problem is that you strung out a line of illogical, irrational BS in a simple effort to taunt UT on a UT board, without considering the validity of your own argument. I suspect a valid argument was not your intent. Your intent was merely to troll a board.

So, since you refuse to own your irrationality, I'll just end with this.

UL is a team that does well in a third-tier conference. The UL turd shines up well, but would be crushed if it tried to run the gauntlet of schedules that UT has run in the past 5 years. If I could choose between average wins in the SEC and undefeated in your conference, I would choose the SEC every time.

Looking at UL's ranking, compared to the schedule you played, it says more about the ranking process than it does UL. Go beat up Temple and FIU some more. Maybe you'll beat another SEC team soon. I promise you. If you do, it will be because the SEC sees your mediocrity and looks over you. Again.

Good day.

So... what points, exactly? You mean people (not me) brining up Louisville as a red herring to detract from the issue of Tennessee being abhorrent? Feel free to keep harping on about Louisville having a terrible schedule and Tennessee being a national power... when all's said and done, none of that changes the fact that Tennessee is scared about a fourth-consecutive losing season.

P.S. No one chooses average in the SEC (which, by the way, you're not. Tennessee is below average!) over being undefeated in a lesser BCS conference. Mainly because being undefeated in the lesser BCS conference means you get to play in a BCS bowl and maybe the national title.

It absolutely amazes me how one decent year can effect a mediocre team in a crap conference.

You want to talk about UT's 5 year record in the SEC while sitting so close to this steamer in the Big Least?

2007 Louisville Cardinals 6-6 3-4 T-5th

2008 Louisville Cardinals 5-7 1-6 T-7th

2009 Louisville Cardinals 4-8 1-6 T-7th

2010 Louisville Cardinals 7-6 3-4 T-5th W Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl
2011 Louisville Cardinals 7-6 5-2 T-1st L Belk Bowl

I apologize for how I have treated you. I thought you were a troll. It's becoming apparent that you can't read.

No. I meant your contradictory, illogical, and asinine reasoning per the quality of coaching positions at schools. You know... The points per (1) underachievement and (2) new coaches effecting the desirability of a school. The points I have listed out to you several times over two pages?

Spoken like a true lower conference wanna be. And thank you for the admission that UL's record last year was nothing to write home about when competition level is considered. Thank you for proving my point.

It's a sad place to be... When you would rather sneak into a BCS bowl than prove the worth of your program against quality opponents.

UL needs to stay away from the ACC. You may never see another bowl game if you go there.

No, it isn't. You all are a basketball school. You had a good year in football, and I would not attempt to try and take that away from you. However, you play in a garbage football conference, and you struggle with the competition you have now. It's not like you all are beating the piss out of people. With the schedule you all played last year, you all were involved in seven games that were decided by a touchdown or less against teams like UNC, FIU, USF, UCONN, and Southern Miss. That's not the mark of a "premier" football program. Your basketball program is one of the premier forces in the NCAA; your football program is not.

UT beat the breaks off of Cinci two years ago, when Cinci shared the conf title-- due to talent alone. This was during one of the SEC losing seasons that the troll refers to.

If UT had played Louisville's schedule past five years, we would be a winning program, ranked, and still have CDD. UT's fires its coach when its performance falls to the level of Big Least competition.

If Louisville had played UT's schedule, they would be a losing program.

They're basically a .500 program as it stands, and that's from playing the likes of Memphis and Syracuse on a yearly basis. They want no part of playing an SEC schedule.

Which, sadly, the troll just admitted. And, sadly, he can't understand why we do.

You know what the crazy thing about UT's schedule is? They play an SEC schedule... because they play in the SEC. For every drawback with schedule difficulty, SEC teams have other advantages not afforded to Big East programs. No **** you'd have a winning record if you had SEC advantages and a Big East schedule!

Unfortunately, when compared with other SEC schools... Tennessee is garbage. Sorry!

P.S. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9175735/louisville-cardinals-tried-schedule-game-texas-aggies-2013-season-opener You can only play who's in front of you. Sorry we're going to beat everyone in front of us while UT will struggle to get 5 wins.

Translation: UL would be garbage in the SEC. Except for one year in the past 6, UL was garbage in the Big East.

You are a troll. I will waste no more time on you.

Clarification: There is no way for you to gauge how Louisville would perform playing an SEC schedule if they were an SEC team afforded the advantages that go along with the conference.

But, you can gauge wins in December... and Louisville will have two to three times as many as the Volunteers.

UL would be garbage in the SEC. Right now.

It is sad that you have expressed your preference to rack up wins with garbage schedules, as opposed to testing yourself against the best competition.

UL is a garbage team in the NCAA. You will always be a garbage team in the NCAA. I pray that UT plays UL in a bowl next season, so that we can beat your brakes off like we did Cinci, and show you how cream puff Big Least contenders fair against even struggling SEC teams.

Oh... Wait... We did that against Cinci.

You are a garbage program.

You're funny.

1) Louisville has made attempts to play SEC teams. Louisville, last season, played and beat Florida in the Sugar Bowl. Put Louisville in the SEC as opposed to just giving them an SEC schedule and they'd mop the floor with UT.

2) Louisville won't play Tennessee next season because the Vols aren't in the BCS picture. The 2014 season? I wouldn't mind a shot at Tennessee then.

3) You can start calling Louisville a garbage program when you stop having losing seasons and get Louisville's coach to take over instead of turning you down. Enjoy 1998; we're more than happy reeling in a crystal football this coming January.

One season above seven wins in 6 years. In the Big Least.

Garbage.

UL is a garbage team that is so bad, UF didn't even bother preparing for you.

Garbage in a garbage program.

If we were to rate garbage, UL is garbage in the dumpster on skid row.

UL is garbage that is left in the dumpster after the bums pick through it.

UL is garbage that even garbage doesn't respect.

UL is garbage that garbage would scrape off of its shoes.

Why the **** is an arrogant Louisville fan, on a UT site, trashing UT in a thread about a douchebag Vanderbilt assistant? That must be a sad life to live.
