I dont have an answer, but i do have 2 friends from HS that life in Knoxville, and 4 more that life in Nashville. It is kind of strange.

Better weather. More consistent work (for less pay)

Ive been told that there were a ton of folks from TN that went to MI in the 60s and 70s when the car boom was at it's peak, and they are now starting to migrate back here.
