Last time I checked, participation in a police force is not cumpolsory. If you can't apprehend an "armed and dangerous" suspect without killing him, that's fine... but you're not very good at your job.

Doesn't make the officer a bad person, nor should they be prosecuted in all situations... but, ideally, you shouldn't be killing the suspect. If you kill the suspect, you did not do your job correctly.
Sure, maybe you killed him to save your own life. Maybe you killed him to save the life of someone else. But, if you were better at your job, you'd find a way to subdue the suspect without a casualty.

I'm legitimately interested in what part(s) you disagree with because, of course, this is my personal view.
You agree that you ideally shouldn't kill the suspect, right? If so, and the suspect is killed, would you agree that the officer didn't do his job perfectly?
