who's expected to be you guys QB? worley?

is it a open competition?

Peterman just starting taking more snaps with the 1's on offense. CBJ wants to be able to make a fair analysis between him and Worley. However, Worley is definitely the #1 right now.

This. Worley is a clear #1 as of right now but Peterman has a definite shot at the job. The wildcard is if they struggle in the fall can a freshman win the job? Usually I would say no but with the performance from both during spring I wouldnt rule it out.

As the other gents noted, Worley looks to have the spot early on. But IMO, we have 4 talented QB's and with this beastly O-line, any one of them could shine as long as the receivers and RB's step up.

A lot of the drops this spring have not been exactly well placed passes, just sayin. Its anyones game and very likely one could start the season but not finish it.

@briscoe81vfl good! Almost at 240 with my speed still intact. Trying my best to make an impact on the field next year!!

AJ Bransiel talking to Josh Briscoe

I could see him being one of our better signees of '13 when it's all said and done

Was Dyer implicated in any of the recently released Auburn reports? IMO he is a risk worth taking, easy enough to send packing if he starts or continues his old ways. UT is going to need that homerun threat in the backfield this fall.

Good. He should visit Knoxville instead. There's plenty of opportunity to carry the rock in UT's back field.

Do it, Butch. :crossfingers:

Are you guys sure about Dyer? School after school has passed on him. There's got to be some inside stuff that maybe we don't know about that could just be to much of a risk to take a chance on.

No. We're not sure. But based on his talent level, our need, and reports that he has changed, I'd throw dice.

That's probably the case. I'm just a fan who knows we need an elite RB this fall to capitalize on our talented OL and help make up for the drop off in WR talent and experience. I want to win. And I think an elite RB could be mean the world to our win/loss total this fall.

I'm sure Butch has done his homework on Dyer and if he's not worth the risk, Dyer won't get the chance to be a Vol. I'm just hoping somehow Dyer passes the test and moves to Knoxville. And if not, another elite RB who's available, although I don't think there are too many of those out there.

I feel like it would be hard to promote the family atmosphere and then go out and bring in a brand new guy to start.

I'm sure he'd have to come in and earn it but I can't help but remember that the Minnesota Vikings players weren't all that thrilled when the team signed Favre and named him starter after like 0 practices.

It depends

If we win with Dyer, no big deal, people will forget all about it.

If we don't. Butch's speech about integrity and all that jazz blows up in his face.

So it really depends on if fans and UT can handle the negative publicity and the negative recruiting that would happen. Thats not even factoring the possibility of Dyer making another big mistake while at UT or how the team will respond to a player like Dyer.

Again, this only matters if UT loses a lot of games.

Especially if the Lane situation takes a turn for the worse, which would fit in with our recent habit of losing a starter to off the field issues before the season. Our OL deserves a great RB.

First I heard about the change and I hope he has. I am not trying to argue cause I wouldn't mind a good back with his talent, but why did TCU back off of him? Something just doesn't seem right.

Likely to lose Gordon too. Fortenberry says 50/50 he's gone. I agree 100%, our OL deserves a great RB.

Nothing personal. "Boys, I'm bringing in the best players I can find to help us compete for a championship. Carries are earned on the practice field... game on."

Every recruiting class is an effort to recruit over the previous recruiting class. This is no different.

This isn't recruiting over the previous players. This is the reports of Dyer being a locker room cancer, Butch going against his speech about integrity and character, and the bad pr of UT taking Dyer.

Is it worth it? I don't know. Its not my call. Its a high risk/high reward with long term consequences if a failure.
