North Korea Threatens "Preemptive Nuclear Attack"

I am under the impression that china has a agreement to assist NK if the need ever rises?

Kind of like US and South Korea ?

I am sure they probably do. If so, it is not serious by China. It is only to influence control over the NK situation. When push comes to shove, China is not going to defend NK.

I'm not so sure I agree with you. When it comes to ideology, these countries that favor various forms of communism tend to look out for each other without much exception.

China is interesting because they've got the taste of capitalism on their lips but they still are trying to uphold their communist maxims and governing policies of the past.

On the other hand china may just invade NK and remove the regime in place and put it under their control??

I think this would be the best case scenario for all countries involved.

China needs to put down their rabid mutt before it bits someone. But I doubt they will.

I think China sees value in NK simply for their military; which constitutes a ridiculous percentage of their population - I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

Their army is so large because they will feed you if you join. The people over there are starving to death.

China's interest in NK is not ideology driven. it is being a buffer between themselves and South Korea.

Not really.

Capitalism creates wealth for them. The communist party (one party system at the national level) is just a political way to keep power.

It's the way I understood it. Why else would they be on their borders while US troops are on the south's borders

My quess is one of two things:

1- a show of force to NK to stop this crazy mess

Or

2- they fear NK will do something stupid, we will wipe them off the map and they want to race in and take control to keep the buffer and prevent refugees.

China has placed military forces on heightened alert in the northeastern part of the country as tensions mount on the Korean peninsula following recent threats by Pyongyang to attack, U.S. officials said.
Reports from the region reveal the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently increased its military posture in response to the heightened tensions, specifically North Korea's declaration of a "state of war" and threats to conduct missile attacks against the United States and South Korea.
According to the officials, the PLA has stepped up military mobilization in the border region with North Korea since mid-March, including troop movements and warplane activity.
China's navy also conducted live-firing naval drills by warships in the Yellow Sea that were set to end Monday near the Korean peninsula, in apparent support of North Korea, which was angered by ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills that are set to continue throughout April.
North Korea, meanwhile, is mobilizing missile forces, including road-mobile short- and medium-range missiles, according to officials familiar with satellite imagery of missile bases.

China is just shoring up their own border against NK. China is smart enough to know we have no intention of secretly attacking it by sending some more of our military to South Korea. In fact it'd be stupid and detrimental for us to try and start crap with China and both the US and China know that. As far as for the size of NK army, large numbers of feet on the ground with regard to today's high tech wars means just about nothing.

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said Tuesday that the United States had the right to take preemptive military action against North Korea if there was "solid evidence" that Kim Jon Un planned to attack the United States or South Korea.

"If we have good reason to believe there's going to be an attack, I believe we have the right to take preemptive action," King said on CNN's 'Erin Burnett Outfront.'

"I don't think we have to wait until Americans are killed or wounded or injured in any way," he continued. "I'm not saying we should be rushing into war, don't get me wrong, but if we have solid evidence that North Korea's going to take action, then I think we have a moral obligation and an absolute right to defend ourselves."

Looks like they may be trying to warm the public up to a potential strike on NK

God, I hope not!!! Going to war again with somebody is getting old very fast. Send some of those South Korean chicks over here first before we go to war. :) Put a smile on us old timers face for a change.

Pull the troops out of Japan/RoK and we wouldn't run the risk of Americans being killed.

It's definitely a different feel for sure. As of past they have been all hat and no cattle.

Still "no cattle". NK can hardly conduct a successful missile launch when other countries are not attempting to blast whatever they fire out of the sky.

This situation is certainly scary for those in South Korea, Japan, and China (if NK fires a rocket, who knows where it will end up...and, well, China takes up the most land in the area); however, there is no way NK is launching a missile that will make it to the US.

Agreed. But we do have bases over there that are targets. That is a little dangerous.
