I'm sure you will disappear once again when things go wrong. Maybe you should make another ban bet... Oh wait...
Do I think we get to a bowl? Yes. Do I think we beat Vandy? Yes. Will players improve? I'm sure, but will it be enough? I'm just not gonna act like we have all this talent, when it's not the case.

i don't see how people don't get that CBJ has some talent to work with - it is really next year where the talent dropoff could happen unless we really recruit well this year
Vandy hasn't beaten a single ranked opponent since James Franklin became their coach, have they? Beating Ole Miss, Mizzou and Uconn isn't impressive.
Franklin's a decent coach, I'll give him that, certainly better than Dooley. But the reason he hasn't beaten any good SEC teams is because he doesn't have the talent to do so.
Stop being scared of Vanderbilt.
I kick your dog or something? You clearly have a problem with me. You keep taking shots at me in every post since we've been having this discussion. Not sure why. You need a hug?
Disappear? Is this fade route's 2nd account? I haven't gone anywhere, I'm here in the recruiting forum everyday.
Yes, these class rankings are not as indicative of our talent level as they should be: we've had plenty of defections and Dooley did not recruit for posterity on the lines and in the LB core. But, to Ron's point, do not underestimate the significance of competent coaching. That team last year should have won 8 or 9 games with a competent head coach and a competent defensive scheme (ie Wilcox).

How many of those have played like their ratings? There are so many variables that come into play once a signee starts practicing. You can't just bring up stars from 3 years ago and expect them to be a 10 win team.
Bama, LSU, UF, and all those schools have a lot of busts. The difference is that they minimize the busts by bringing in a crazy amount of talented players along with the busts.
UT has not done that at all which is why we haven't had a winning season in 3 years. If our roster was good, most of those guys wouldn't be starting.

I shouldn't of said busts because some of our players could be solid backups or even situational starters. Some players may even wake up this year and show out, but we can't expect the whole team to play like a bunch of 4 stars and win a high amount of games. Some players are having to play because there simply isn't anyone better. It is what it is.Surely not all of those 4 and 5 * guys are busts. Coaching can make them reach their potential. Hopefully we will have good coaching.
i don't recall myself, Swanson, st18, or any other of the more optimistic posters projecting 10 wins - i believe we were more saying we do have more talent than vandy and will have the talent edge in at minimum 7 games this year and 7 wins is not crazy to expect
i would also say that i can't remember the last time UT had that many 4 star+ guys at important positions that were upperclassmen - it has been a long time - we keep giving up on 4 star guys b/c they didnt dominate as fresh, soph, juniors (Jsmith and Cmiller really come to mind here) - the fact is that many players don't come into their own until they are a junior-senior
we are now are upper-classmen laden and have a lot of highly rated guys - it is just a different situation than we have been in for prob at least 5 years
