No. This year, the committee apparently decided to focus exclusively on who you lost to, disregarding almost completely who you beat, which makes no sense at all to me. That's how MTSU got in over us when 25 of their 26 wins were against the bottom half of D-I.

That's exactly how I feel about the people who say it's impossible for us to bring Pearl back. But you must be right since you're so wise apparently. lol. People can disagree and have different ideas without being "idiots". Show some more respect.

Average basketball huh? This will be the only response to the nonsence I will be contributing. But 21-12 does NOT an average team make. I mean who do we(as fans) think we are sometimes? Tennessee was nonexistant in basketball before BP. We do not have a history of being very good. This year we beat 3 teams dancin, and should have beaten a 2 seed thats dancin. We are NOT average. Maybe not on the level we got to under Pearl, but BP's arent a dime a dozen. CCM has the chance to be a good recruiter and in time maybe a good coach. But can we please stop being a bunch of childish somebodies and be patient. Take your/our medicine and be happy with the success we had this year.

I would hate to see Bruce in Memphis....recruiting against us state-wide. Or anywhere in the SEC for that matter.

I'll say it again - BC would be the perfect fit for him. Or one of the lagging BE schools - Depaul, Rutgers, Seton Hall...

And your right. However, does seem like most people on here know how to have a difference of opinion without calling someone a idiot, dumb, or moron for not agreeing with them. If they dont, start fillin up the ignore box.

Reminiscing is fine. Criticizing Martin is fine, and even suggesting Pearl would have a better record this year if he didn't lie like a dumbass is fine.

But once we accept the fact that he did lie like a dumbass and this whole mess is his fault, the people saying we should have kept him or we should bring him back are the same idiots that wanted Petrino hired as our football coach. Pearl will end up at some backwater school the exact same way, and that's absolutely the way it should be.

Agree with everything exept I have a feelin that because his violation is so minor, that a decent D-1 school will give him another chance. Tried to look up if any other coaches that had been hit with a show cause were ever re-hired somewhere. And I have yet to find somebody. But I do think that BP's violation will be weighed against his potential. And he will be given another chance somewhere. JMO

In a lesss sarcastic way that is exactly my point. He couldn't stay but some fans weren't ready for him to leave. And no he isn't coming back which is why is would be great if people stopped bringing his name up every time they get upset at Martin. I tried to find this too. Show cause coaches don't exactly have a good track record of getting back to relevancy.

The thing is Pearl was already blackballed for being a snitch. I see no real way he come back from this, at least at this level. He has only himself to blame though.

Tod Bozeman- Morgan State was hired after a show cause.

None of the show cause coaches had Pearl's record of success. He will coach again in a big program so just hope we don't have to face him every year.

True but he has proven that he's a risk. He's going to start relatively slow and have to build up some goodwill if he ever gets back to this level.

People need to understand there are Vol fans that like Coach Pearl and there are Vol fans that hate Bruce Pearl. Liking something or someone is subjective. Some people like raw oysters and some detest them. It doesn't make someone an idiot or clueless either way or less of a Vol fan. Also, liking coach Pearl doesn't mean you dislike Coach Martin. They are not mutually exclusive.

Actually the real thing is, being labeled a snitch by some big ten-ers didn't stop him from becoming arguably UT's most successful roundball coach ever, did it? What you "see" regarding Pearl obviously doesn't mean squat.

It makes it even worse. He's a snitch and ended up getting in trouble for not only cheating, but lying to the NCAA. So he's a liar and a hypocrite with a three year show-cause. How on Earth would he be the lone coach to make it back? Not going to happen.
