The criteria I've always heard is top 5 at your position for 10 years.

Silver Sluggers, best hitter at your position, should count in this discussion.

This was done in five mores seasons than Murphy as well. Different positions and styles of play, but stats aren't that much different.

All this being said, both should be in. I still think Murph is the bigger snubbed. Lack of wins killed him even though that is a result of bad Braves ownership in the 80s.

We left out the single reason Raines is the bigger snub...Stolen Bases, brah. Look that up. I believe he is in the top 5 all time. Murphy has ZERO of the HOF factors that would qualify him as a snub.

808 or 35 per season. In the 80s, that wouldn't be considered elite.
