I'd glue those size 20's to the floor until his arms fell off. Glad he's doing work.

Timeline: Game over at around 11:15, Stokes and team get dressed, get to the airport, fly to Knoxville, Stokes heads to the gym and practices free throws until 3am...how much time could that have really been? 15 minutes? :D Seriously, it's good to see him taking this seriously, this can easily be the difference going forward.

I usually putt better half hammered. Maybe that's his problem....he isn't drinking enough to shake the fear. Doesn't make running up and down the court very easy. :loco:

I'd say he was at TBA by 1:30, so an hour and a half of nothing but shooting free throws? Say one every 20 seconds, so 3 a minute...that would be 270 in a hour and a half? So he was 100/270???

Psychology seeing the ball go in the whole over and over will allow you to build confidence in your shot. In golf, if your mechanics are off you will never be able to correct it without some help IMO. Basketball is a little different. Stokes has proven he can hit 5/6 FT out of 10 in a game. FT shooting is more mental then physical. It has to just become natural to step up to the line go through your motions and hit your FTs. It's 90% mental and 10% physical.

I love it. The UT fan in me believes that he was doing it to show commitment to success as a Vol, which is awesome. The basketball fan in me thinks that he was doing it to impress scouts, which is cool with me as well.

Whatever helps him help himself and/or the team is all good with me. Solid guy.

My guess with the way his night went, he did 182 shots to get that 100.

This may sound crazy, but repetition is more important than technique. Doesn't matter what technique you use if the ball consistently goes in the hoop. Take Joakim Noah for example. The guy has one of the worst techniques I've ever seen yet he shoots 73% for his career.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I think repetition > technique specifically when referring to free throws.

It almost always helps, but it can be detrimental sometimes. I doubt this happens often, but if a player can't absorb and retain everything he's doing as far as the mentality and muscle memory go, he's only exhausting himself with the repetition.

Like I said, I doubt that happens often, but a professor at UT brought that idea up about practicing guitar, and I thought it was interesting.

I doubt it because Stokes' mechanics are so bad, but if anything, this may help his confidence which is a huge part of shooting.

He uses the Willie Mayes Hayes method... everytime he misses in practice he owes coach 25 push-ups. That explains the guns!!! lol

Not impressed.

slow pace putting up 10/min and if makes 1/2 he'd be in the gym for 20 min when he reached 100.

Aim for 1000 next time.

dude for Wisconsin was a 70% ft shooter for 3 years and now is 40%. He went so mental, he now shoots a jump shot from a couple of feet behind the line.

I don't know who this speaks more of, Stokes for putting the time in the gym the same night he went 1-10 at the line, or Yemi staying out with him just to rebound. What a team player! Proud of both of them.

Especially after he didn't play. He could have easily pouted about it and gone home. Nope, helped a teammate out.

Also, he said he was gonna stay til he made 100. My guess is he stayed longer than that. Just based on how long he was there.
