I apologize Vx and Cmelt...I hadn't even gotten to Ron Zook and Jack Sells yet and they WERE on the staff. Lot's of phonies, mostly phonies when it comes to football coaches, right? Urban Meyer, if you're his daughter is a phoney, no?

When he left Tenn he went to Oklahoma St for a Co-Offensive coordinator position and a payraise.

At Auburn he was assistant head coach along with wide receiver coach.

Don't see how you get "phony" out of that. He was never going to be more than a Wr coach for us.

and if you ignore the fake titles given to him he was never more than a WR coach anywhere (he was AHC at UT too)

It's funny how no one needs evidence to convict a guy like Calipari, yet Pearl was doing shady stuff all over the place and people want him to get banned by the NCAA or something before they admit it. Oh, wait, that happened already.

I think for most people, it's more the piety coupled with his questionable recruiting tactics that makes him phony.

Except for the fact that they do. You're making a very poor case over here, especially since you don't have anything to imply or infer Pearl did anything else.

Again, if Pearl were still here, you wouldn't be lamenting about how much of a scumbag he is.

You are factually correct. My point was that he presented himself to players (and to a lesser extent fans) as a man that thought of team as family. The chest bumping "players" coach bailed on his "fan." This is nothing sup rising in today's game. I just felt it was hypocritical i.e. phony. Sour grapes, spilled milk, whatever you wanna call it.

In the long run, we would be substantially worse off because it's too easy for opposing coaches to question the trustworthiness of a guy that repeatedly got caught lying. Why do you think we fired him?
