Jay Graham has left Tennessee to go to FSU

As long as you're not an incompetent fool like Derek Dooley, the staff will mesh just fine. The solution is to hire the best assistants possible, but as you can see Jones has issues getting those guys to come here or stay here.

Who has he not gotten? Tee's woman wouldn't let him come back because he had a kid and a previous relationship in Knoxville. Who knows about Jay but I'm glad he has brought in coaches that know his system. Hiring an allstar staff doesn't always equate to wins. Look at Kiffin

This does not look good for the new staff. Something had to be really wrong...unless the money was WAY WAY more.

Dooley had a better staff on paper than Urban's staff he took to UF. But hell while wait for the season to start let's fire Jones and his staff now.

Also, guys like Mullen were coming from an undefeated Utah team.

Meyer comparisons tick me off for two reasons.

1. "People thought he would be bad, and look, he was good!" Okay, there are about a hundred other coaches I could show you that people thought were bad. And they were actually...really bad.

2. People didn't even think Meyer was a bad hire. Some thought his offense may not work, but dude had just gone unbeaten the season before. The biggest game Butch Jones has coached in is the Liberty Bowl.

Really shocked at first but after thinking more about the situation, I think Jay was an outsider to Jones. I think Butch kept him because he was already lead recruit on some the bigger guys and he realized to not keep him would make it an even tougher time recruiting. Jay knew he was an outsider with this staff so now that something has come along where he's not the only new guy he feels he could do better there and possibly move up. Hate that this has happened but hopefully Butch can get an equal if not better replacement.

That is what I'm saying too. Anyone who has seen me post knows I'm not a negavol nor am I a sunshine pumper either. Reality is there is no good spin to this.

Even if most of us want Trooper, it won't happen.

What ever Tennessee actually wants, we get exactly what we didn't want. It's science.

So....you're telling me that Sal is coming back to coach RB's then? Awesome. Where's the closest interstate overpass I can leap from?

Watch FSU implode next year. That team's new staff reeks of our staff this past year. Pretty much total overhaul.

The reality is Jay didn't get the RB he wanted in this cycle, two times over. He was still kept on staff and had a job, and said he loved this staff's work approach and blue collar feel. To me, that's surprising, leaving money as the only other variable. Suddenly, VFL kinda goes out the window.

Everyone needs to quit freakin out! This is going to be the best staff in America. Jay Graham obviously wasn't in that elite status. Holding the other coaches back.

Even the best coaching hire that he made? Dooley was bad but Jay Graham was a top flight coach. You're crazy if you think this benefits us in anyway.

Yeah, jay was just raking in the top flight rb recruits.. It was time for him to go anyways.

loved JG and what he meant to this university. However, if you were to take the fact of his playing at UT out of the equation, you wouldn't see a "rock star" coach. I understand that bouncing up the coaching ladder is a universal practice. However, he coached at UT Chatt for 1 year, UT Martin for 1 year, Miami (Oh) for 1 year. Then he landed at SC, got Lattimore after year 1 and stayed 2 more. Then he left there for UT, and stayed there for 1 year. We'll see how he does at FSU. They have the recruiting base, and tools to be successful.

Wishing him luck. At least he went to FSU. Imagine the meltdown had it been UF.

i did like jay alot as a former vol and vfl but after this he is not a vfl he is a punk.you just do not leave like this.i now have someone i despise more than lame kiffen

Hell, I despise Dooley 10x more than Kiffin!

Please note I said "coach." Surely you saw what he did with our RBs last year. Turned a dismal, unproductive group in 2011 into a relatively effective ground attack last year.

I honestly don't know how you can stand by this as a good thing for our program. Especially considering the unknowns that the rest of our staff brings. You're usually one of the reasonable ones too...
