Robert Hubbs

i doubt yemi sees much time. he has regressed.

I still think if we could afford to redshirt him a year it'd benefit both parties. If not, I don't see him getting more minutes next year than he is this year. And thing is, with stokes playing much better with a stretch forward, or 4 guard lineup, it's unlikely yemi and stokes will ever be out there much together.

I think the 4 guard line up will be seen a lot especially early. You have to get Hubbs in the game if you aren't going to start him. golden Hubbs McRae Richardson and Stokes. Play a 3-2/ 2-3 zone and you don't have to worry about McRae or Richardson getting buried by a big man. Also keeps stokes out of foul trouble. That's a lot of length that you can play a zone with.

And leave Maymon on the bench?

People are forgetting of overlooking him for some reason...if he's half the guy he was he'll be getting 30 minutes along with stokes.

Golden 30/ McRae 10
McRae 20/ Hubbs 20
Richardson 30/ Hubbs 10
Maymon 30/ reese or Davis 10
Stokes 30/ yemi 10

I really forgot about him smh. We can still run a 4 guard line up at times and interchange Maymon and Stokes. They both work well with them being the only post man.

I agree you'll see it, I just think it'll be for small stretches, say 10 minutes a game.

Golden, McRae, Hubbs, Richardson and Stokes out their is scary good. Being able to do that will help if our bigs get into foul trouble also.

I think we will be able to press more also. We have to utilize athletism and size next year. Show recruits that you can fit in our system being athletic no matter what position.

Would be scary good. I think starting 5 though is Golden, McRae, Hubbs, Maymon, and Stokes.

It probably will be at some point, but we're deep enough at the wing to afford to have Hubbs off the bench. I expect we'll see a lot of lineup tweaking at the beginning of the season. Hubbs's defense will also be a big factor. If he cannot defend as well as Richardson (I would guess he can't in his freshman year), it would probably be better to have a defensive stopper to start the game when we have the offensive options of Golden, McRae, Maymon, and Stokes.

Like many have said, it's not about who starts, but who gets the minutes. Regardless of where Hubbs is in the depth chart, you can expect Golden/Moore, McRae, Richardson, and Hubbs to get the vast majority of wing minutes, and there will be plenty of overlap.

I've been adamant that Richardson won't get bumped, and that Hubbs will be the 6th man.

However, Rob Lewis just said on VQ he thinks that Hubbs will start over Richardson fwiw.

I, like you believe otherwise. Rob is speculating at best, right now.

I just have a hard time seeing Richardson off the bench knowing he does a little bit of everything well, and he's your best defender with 2+ years of experience in CCMs system to his credit. I may be wrong, but I will believe it when I see it when it comes to Richardson coming off the bench.

It will be hard for Hubbs to push into a starting role over Richardson but if he does that can only mean good things for how great of a player he is/will be.

Hubbs will have to perform better than expectations to start, in my mind. Guys in that 10-20 rankings range would probably start on a lot of teams from day one, but the position is crowded, and I doubt you'll see him hit his stride until around mid-season. It may take him a while to get his defense up to par. Even if he is able to an effective scorer from day one, I'm not going to put unrealistic expectations on him. I think 9ppg his Freshman season that's comprised of several double-digit scoring outings, a couple 20+ games, and a lot of in the 4-7 pt range sounds about right. Not enough to supplant a guy like Richardson who doesn't have any of the glaring deficiencies that most true Freshman would have. Nothing wrong with coming off the bench. Wouldn't be surprised if he did break the starting rotation at some point in the season, I just don't think it'll be early unless he's better than his ranking. And I hope I'm completely wrong.

I feel like you do...the only thing I'll say though is Lewis got to watch Hubbs against some top notch competition this year multiple times so he does have that going.

Also, Richardson strikes me as the kind of guy that you can ask to come off the bench and he'll take it the right way. So if Hubbs does start over Richardson, I see him taking it in stride.

Oh absolutely. Josh is all about the team and wants to win bad, you can tell.

All 3 are gonna get 30+ minutes, so it really doesn't matter who is starting.

Be interesting to see how minutes break down next year. If Golden, Hubbs, McRae, Richardson, Stokes and Maymon all average exactly 30 minutes. That means there will only be 20 other MPG to go around total.

Gotta throw Armani in there for some of those minutes if he continues to progress. Kid is too good.

I posted this earlier, but now that I think about it you gotta think Moore gets some PT.
