TV Exposure to North Carolina and Virginia would help Tennessee more than any other SEC school in terms of recruiting. I liked the SEC at 12 teams but if they are going to add 2 more those would be my picks(wish).

I actually think it would hurt UT and USC because the majority of the top players from both states seem to be heading to play in the SEC. But if they could stay home and do it I think less will leave.

aTm has benefited from joining the SEC but exposure has not really helped any other SEC team, even LSU who does well is starting to see a fight on their hands. Many thought RSJ would end up at LSU but he stayed instate.

@TennesseeBeat: Butch says players will wear different jerseys Friday: "If they play at a championship level, they'll wear orange. If they're average, white. If they're awful or not up to our standard, blue."

I'm guessing he means for Friday practices as kind of an indicator of how the team has practiced that week?

Should have said, "if they're awful, or not up to our standards, blue, or black and gold."

Agree 100%. I never bought into the other point of view

Here is what I have been thinking in regards to uniforms. Make the Orange "cool" again for the players.

In other words, use it as a reward.

In the off season, only team captains get to wear orange (it should be an honor). As other players excel in the weight room, in the class room, on the practice field, they earn the right to wear orange (either around the facility, or even on campus).

It could be a helluva motivational tool, if done correctly.

Maybe Butch reads Volnation?

Yes upset fan kills trees not acceptable. And no not from state and can only read message boards. UA twice as many as AU boards, but for every UA post about issues at AU, AU fans post 50 about UA. I understand both fan bases are obsessed with their team, but do not understand how AU fans are more obsessed with UA than their own program. I guess the little brother syndrome is true.

No program has perfect fans but the ones for AU are beyond overall. If you want to know where Saban is recruiting I bet their is a picture on a AU website of his car or him there.

Go to a UA website right now and see how threads there are about UA and go to a AU website and see the same in regards to UA.

And killing a tree or teabagging is stupid but 2 indivduals vs the many on facebook, twitter, and boards like this that openly threatened the lives of Foster, Yeldon and their families again is well beyond being a normal rival. And yes UA fans were upset when Foster flipped the 1st time but I have yet to see any link to show death threats like was there from AU fans. Just saying.

If Auburn had the same recent run as Bama, and Bama just had the season Auburn did, it would probably be exactly the same. Glass houses...

It's only about 1 thing...money. New TV markets = $$$$

The folks who make these decisions couldn't care less about making football more competitive. $$$$$$ is all they care about.

if that were the only thing that mattered then the SEC would have the worst deal out there since there are basically no TV mkts in the SEC

the reality is the how good your teams are has a lot to do with their media interest - not just where they are located - this is where the SEC wins big and what the Big 10 seems to be completely ignoring

rutgers nebraska just doesnt have the same ring as A&M bama

once the two already added start playing people will see the brand of big 10 football even more degraded and any game outside a home mkt will be a very tough sale to the media - day 1 rutgers/MD is a good idea b/c of the auto TV sets you can get on cable subscriptions but over time crap football will be paid for what it is

see the big east - how many TV mkts did they have bigger than the SEC?

I get where you are coming from with MD and Rutgers, but UNC has always been viewed as the crown jewel so to speak of conference realignment. Mike Slive would give anything to get them to the SEC if he could.

i think UNC to the SEC is different than UNC to the big 10

the SEC could really benefit from another top bball school - would really help its brand in the other revenue generating sport

big 10 doesnt really have this need so i would think they would be looking for football teams - UNC is a strange place to look for that

UNC is one of the best markets available, a strong academic institution, currently has 25 active players on NFL rosters which would instantly put them in the upper echelon of Big 10 teams in that regard, was really just a Giovanni Bernard injury away from going 10-2 this year, and is strong in a lot of minor sports. I can't think of a team that would be willing to move with better qualifications than UNC.

Love seeing this from the staff and the players. Byron Moore and McCullers after todays workout.

@bmoore3vfl You either gonna quit or be All SEC with this staff no in between

@_BIGDAN98: Workouts were TOUGH this morning....this coaching staff going to get you right!!!!

More than anything, I think Coach Jones and his staff are going to hold the team accountable and make great leaders.

you must be from Ncarolina

UNC football is a joke - they have a 63K stadium and can't fill it - they haven't won a conference title in 32 years - they haven't won 10 games in 15 - 0 natnl titles

their academics are good but we are talking about sports - and in the biz of sports only 2 matter bball and fball - and fball to a much greater extent than bball

and their fball is just not good

A guy on VQ keeps making these UT videos and I thought the last one he made a couple days ago was really good but this one's even better. Goose bumps!

Excellent video! Thanks for posting it in here.

No, not from North Carolina. Just realize that they are the best option out of all the teams that might be looking to leave. Name me another team that has more active players on NFL rosters that would be willing to make the move? They had multiple 10 win seasons under Mack Brown, before making a series of bad coaching hires after which Butch Davis had to build them back up. Now it appears that they have made a second good hire in Fedora who will likely keep them heading the right direction. Especially when you consider that he would have had them in the ACC championship game this year if not for their postseason ban. Also to say academics does not matter is clueless about Big 10 expansion. They have shown time and time again that academics is something that they look at closely when adding new members. North Carolina also fits the bill for being an Association of American Universities which they are looking for.

Just stop guy.....You have nothing to really say about this at all. You know nothing about the fanbase you call your own.

i didnt say (or mean to say) that i thought you were wrong on academics being important to the big 10 and a reason why they would want them - also i don't disagree that them being a top 10 state makes them a mkt the big 10 is interested in

i am on volnation and so looking at things from more of a football specific viewpoint - so from a football standpoing i think UNC adds nothing to the big 10 as i thought with rutgers and MD

i also think that conferences who look at mkt size of state/city school is in and their academics over the school's dedication to be good at football and their history of being good at football will cost themselves money in the long term

in reality only football brings in the big boy dollars and that is what is paying for everything else so bringing in 3 schools who are mediocre at best and whose fanbases don't care about football just doesnt help your football brand long term

the SEC adding A&M is the jewel that was out to be had - FSU is another jewel - ND is a jewel - TX is a jewel - Oklahoma is a jewel - UNC from a football standpoint is a "at least it wasnt rutgers"

EDIT...I figured NC since you are a panthers fan - havent met too many of those outside the carolinas

AJ McCarron's car got booted for being illegally parked. On a side note, there are 2 Mercedes in this same parking lot. Are the Mercedes the other students that got booted? Hmmmmm

Y! SPORTS
