Open the photo in Paint. Hit the little dots in the corner to pull it down to the right size. Then crop it. Save it as a jpeg but rename it so you keep the original.

Behr I do mine this way. Go to this link.

Resize, Shrink and Crop Images online

Look towards the middle of the page and hit the browse button.

Find the pic on your computer and then choose what size you want to make it. I usually don't go above 450x600 pixels.

Hit the okay button and after a short time a resized pic will showup on your screen. Right click and save that pic renaming it whatever you want. You sould have a resized pic without being too confusing.
