So does OSU have a major league? How are we looking for this kid, after the visit. Seemed we weren't doing so well last I checked.

Based on what? If anything we are in the best position with him being an in-state talent, having relationships with legacy vols kids like TKJr, and him having plenty of time to build relationships with the staff (who clearly knows how to do so)

I know it's early but I have a good feeling about this one

paraphrasin Ryan Callahan on Swain show:

said during Dooley's stay, there was confusion as to whether Dooley actually offered Hurd last season. there were hurt feelings and caused Vols to lag behind as it took a few months to actually work out an offer...

Geeezus.

at the amount of these stories coming out :haha_oh:

remember back to the Trip Thurman incident. it was a Harbinger of what was to come from Dooley and basically everyone glossed over it and made excuses.

Question? We all know that as a coach you cannot invite a junior to your house for a BBQ right?

Is it a violation for the Junior recruit's Dad to have a BBQ at their house for other Junior recruits and for aforementioned Dad to invite the coaches to his house? :)

Hypothetically speaking...

It's like Dooley knew he was on the outs and just tried to screw up recruiting for the next coach coming in. How can you pass on two 5 star instate recruits that would have fit in not matter what offense or defensive scheme we were running.

I dont think thats it. He had problems all the way back to Trip Thurman.

remember ? VN swept it under the rug :disappointed:

One would think these men in the coaching profession would be professionals and not quit on the job. In the long run this has got to hurt any chances he may have in ever securing another HC job if/when any of the rumors of Dooleys recruiting, or lack of, ever proves to be true.

i think his tenure at UT has doomed him to be a lifer D1 position coach.

Lots of 5* kids choosing to go to Duke and play basketball in front of 9,000 instead of Knoxville to play in front of 20,000.

If anything the kid won't go to Vandy because they have no prestige, not because the number of seats.

It's more the atmosphere than the #s. either way, Pansybilt has neither. Cameron Indoor is an awesome, exciting venue with 9k fans.... just like Neyland with 107k. Nobody would rather play at the pathetic "stadium" on west end than Neyland. You're right, it's prestige and atmosphere

Living in the past I got a good laugh out of that, but who said anything about a powerhouse? Isn't like we needed a powerhouse to beat the vols last year, just a bunch of 50's and 60's ranked recruiting classes from the bobby Johnson days. But if the vols want to live off want was done in the pass and not care about the current times I don't think anyone in the sec would mind that. Back to the topic hurd will probably sign with Tosu IMO.

Freakin typical nerd a$$ Pansybilt snob. Vols living in past and not current times? I think Vols have won 28 of last 30 and you wanna get on here and crow? Arguably the best pansybilt team ever beats one if the worst UT teams ever and youre beating your breast pal? Head back to your conflict resolution class and leave the football talk to the men.

I played with Gerald Turner who was a "Hoss" and Jalen reminds me of him.

They're not really built the same though IIRC. Gerald was one of those backs with tree trunk legs and low to the ground running style...Either way, getting compared to Turner is a helluva compliment. He was a gamer, and what happened was a real tragedy.

It's laughable that some of you think it's easy to go undefeated. Winning every game no matter who you play is tough.

yeah a tough Cal team that had there worst record in yrs. Struggled with CFU. OT with Neb who got beat by 50 by Wisconsin. OT with a powerful Purdue team at 6-7. The big 10 in football blows. PSU with there JV they had out there. They always have one team with a good record and the rest are 8-4 to 5-7 because they beat each other on there home fields and lose on the road.
