I don't know that exact road, but I know the general area your at. I think I went down 89 or hwy540 last time I was there to go into Yellowstone. I have slept since then though.
Probably 89. 89 runs from Livingston, which is about 25 miles east of here, down through Yankee Jim Canyon into Gardiner. The north entrance is a few miles past Gardiner. I drove that yesterday actually. Main road in the park was closed (snow) about 8 miles in. Missed my turn for the northern perimeter road. So, getting late and just drove back. Beautiful in the snow. Steam rising off Mammoth Hot Springs filling the area.
Well that stinks. So you didn't make it very far in at all. West entrance was closed I take it?
I was told that it's closed right now. I'll go back in a week or so. Yesterday was a really nice day for it. It takes a little under an hour and a half to get there from here. They keep the northern loop road clear because of school buses. I was supposed to turn right past the post office and just kept going. Road trip for another day.

Always nice. I have about 500 or so from my last time. Do you know where Index Peak and Pilot's Peak are? We camped north of there last time. It's where the Loop road goes back up into Montana in the NE section.
