Friday - Senior RHP Zack Godley
Saturday (DH-1) - Freshman LHP Drake Owenby or freshman LHP Andy Cox
Saturday (DH-2) - Freshman RHP Matt Esparza
Sunday - Freshman RHP Aaron Quillen

this team is so young.

They are extremely young. Last year Vandy had a freshman 1st round pick who they gradually worked into the rotation over the course of the season. This year, we start the season with three undrafted freshmen in our rotation. Big difference.

I give Serrano credit, though. Just as Cortez burned his ships when he landed in the new world to make sure everyone knew there was no turning back, Serrano completely cut the chords with the old regime. Maybe he could have been slightly more competitive this year by keeping a little more experience from last year, but he decisively committed everyone to his new direction.

No Trevor Bettencourt? I thought he'd get a shot at starting. Who are projected starters in the field?

Is that your opinion or have you seen that mentioned somewhere. I would think VJackson (another Freshman) or Saberhagen would also be in that mix.

No offense - I like him a lot, but if Saberhagen is in the weekend rotation that would not be a good sign imo.

Has to be his opinion. He used the word projection. The rotation has more than likely been decided on by the staff. Should be released very soon.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to that at all. You're not looking for a major performance out of any of these guys week one but that first trip through the lineup can get out of hand in a hurry with an unpredictable freshman out there. Sabes at least gives you some predictability. Having said that, CDS knows what he's doing and isn't sacrificing anyone by throwing them out there. If they're on the bump, with the way he's talked about this team, they earned it. We are definitely going to see some guys grow up as they take lumps this season. I'm excited about it.

That's the projected rotation that was tweeted by the @Vol_Baseball account today, so it's pretty official.

Bettencourt was mentioned as a possible closer in spelling Nick Williams in an interview last week. As for the others look at the "Serrano interview on sports animal" thread. GBO!
