They are extremely young. Last year Vandy had a freshman 1st round pick who they gradually worked into the rotation over the course of the season. This year, we start the season with three undrafted freshmen in our rotation. Big difference.
I give Serrano credit, though. Just as Cortez burned his ships when he landed in the new world to make sure everyone knew there was no turning back, Serrano completely cut the chords with the old regime. Maybe he could have been slightly more competitive this year by keeping a little more experience from last year, but he decisively committed everyone to his new direction.
