On any potential sale: If the Braves start drawing better crowds (and I'm aware of the roadblocks that partially explain the attendance issues) and could manage to win a World Series with this group, that would make them a much more attractive product and could maybe attract more buyer interest.
On Freeman: Don't forget about the bomb he hit off of Halladay for his first career HR. Crushed.
On OOTP: Never played it, but if it's anything similar (sounds even better) to doing a sim league at whatifsports.com, it should be a blast.
The money is in TV contracts now. Not attendance numbers. TV contracts bring in more revenue for teams nowadays than ticket rev.
Someone is going to have to really want to own a team and pour money into the Braves to buy them.
Don't know. I'll look into it. If it's cheaper, we could all run a year behind and I doubt we'd notice. Fictional players/teams means it's sort of beside the point.
I love sim sports games. I used to play a lot of whatifsports years ago. My favorite part of NCAA Football on xbox was recruiting. Go to offseason, go through all of the recruiting stuff, get through signing day and then quit without saving and restart the offseason all over.
Fantasy baseball question. 14 team ML 6x6 auction keeper league. I have B.J Upton for $15, considering trading him for Max Scherzer at $16. They're both in the same contract year, so that's a wash. I tend to go cheap on pitching and I think Scherzer could be a really good value. Thoughts?
I haven't done a 6X6 league in forever. I do feel your pain, though, as I am trying to figure out my roster for the league I'm in as I type this.
are you desperate for pitching and is BJ your best OF? Or?
No. BJ isn't my best OF, but might be the best value OF to keep, and I have to wonder how far he'd exceed $15. But $16 for Scherzer and 200+K and decent other peripherals....
If I do the trade, Scherzer will probably wind up being my most expensive P. I usually spend no more than $60 on my pitching staff.
We keep 10 players (25 man roster) and contracts go no longer than 3 years. Here are my current candidates:
Doumit $5
Aramis Ramirez $18
Jay Bruce $28
Andrew McCutchen $39 (Iffy, but is he only getting better????)
B.J. Upton $15
Justin Ruggiano $1 (Depends on Spring Training and PT)
A.J. Burnett $1
Tim Hudson $7
EOF $1 (We count Holds)
And a handful of other $1 setup guys (Strop, Boggs, Belisario)
I also have Jurickson Profar for $1 and for two more years, but I don't like keeping guys that will start out in the minors.
