'13 SC DL Jaylen Miller (UT signee)

And yet dropped in the rankings because of who they lost. At this point they seem to be treading water. Ive been a jones advocate on this forum, but not seeing results on recruiting, yet. IMO, a lot of smoke not much fire. Staff seems to be exerting a lot of energy for the results. Recruiting is more than just a lot of activity.

Well, take from this what you will then. For my part, I'm withholding judgment till signing day. And even then, I'll probably give this staff a pass, given what they walked into.

I'll judge them based on whether we make a bowl game next year and how our 2014 class turns out.

They let go of some guys because they didn't like them for the new system.. We won't really know anything til NSD... Trust me, we will go up in the rankings.

U should because nothing matters til NSD.

You think they are orchestrating delayed commitments? Could be with this staff. I could see them liking gimmicks like that.

Personally, though, I think they'd prefer just to get the commitment, make it official and have the kids shut it down.

My guess is Tennessee is being negatively recruited against extremely heavily because we've sucked for so long, and these kids are a little hesitant to pull the trigger for us - especially with a new coaching staff that is unproven in the SEC.

I'm actually not surprised closing down these commitments is hard. The fact that we are even in it with a lot of these guys is what's surprising to me (in a very good way).

When you've been as bad as we have for more than 5 years, you just know the odds are stacked against you. This being Jones' first class, I think he wants a lot of drama in one big shot. I'm not saying he has any of these guys in the bag. Only that if he has them committed, there's more benefit to keeping them quiet than to shut it down. He knows as well as anyone, that Saban and Malzhan aren't backing off just because someone verbally commits to us. They have to think a verbal to us is worth as much as Obama's promises.

My reading is >50%.

But it is taking longer to get verbals out of these visits than I hoped.

Not really surprising IMO. This late in the recruiting process a new verbal is pretty much a sealed deal with the amount of time left, or lack thereof, to decide.

Would be great if he called Coach Stripling and CBJ to commit while they are on their in-home visit with Carr..

I don't think so. He is not big enough and is a great pass rusher off the edge. Besides we have enough DT's right now in the line up. Next year though DT's will be a huge need.

Miller really impressed Rivals during the Shrine bowl practices...I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a 4* today

Congrats on the pick-up. My buddy sent me a note about it. This kid is a player from a good area in South Carolina.

I think he'll be able to play as a true freshman.
