'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

That's my point. Us tenn basketball fans felt BP was exactly that.

But it was justified. Pearl beat teams that before he became head coach we would NEVER have beaten, and you can make that argument for Franklin but to a much much smaller degree. His biggest win is over either us or Ole Miss this year, and quite frankly that's not very impressive.

Fair enough.

Back to lawson and my point that jones has "it"!!!

Only been to AU once and it was alright can not really say anything bad about it. Clemson I have had some fun especially on the lake. Just a big difference in a college town vs a real city. UNC(Chapel Hill) is a college town, 10 minutes north is Duke(Durham) not that great, but 15 minutes east is NC State(Raleigh) a city. College town is all about the students, the local scene for them, and the parties on and around campus. At NC State the college is only a small part of the city. There is life on and around campus and alot more in the city. So it depends on what they are looking for.

There is just no comparison in Clemson n auburn. Auburn is a $(&@hole and Clemson is gorgeous and on a lake

I feel very confident this weekend is going to be a great weekend!!

I expect someone from our defensive staff, or multiple people, to be with Lawson at some point this week and then again the week after. Also isn't CBJ having an in-home with Von this week?

Agreed on Lawson. I would wait on Von but iirc he goes tomorrow night

I'm sure there are some that will bash CBJ but NOBODY can fault him (or his staff) for lack of effort! I understand, and agree, that I want to see the product on the field but FOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS in six years, regardless of the conference, has me PUMPED! Go Vols'

Off topic. But did anyone see Jarod Mayo just completely murder the TE from the Ravens. Sorry off topic, but he seriously got in dudes ass.

I hate to be internet tough guy, but the writing over at VolQuest is horrendous. That article wouldn't have sufficed for an entry level journalism course. They're solid investigators, though.

Yeah, that's Hubbs and crew's biggest downfall. But you can't get better info on recruiting anywhere else, so I'm willing to let it slide.

I hope CBJ was able to convince Lawson just how much we need him on this team. Recruits like this are how you start climbing back to the top

Absolutely. A good pass rush will make our defensive backs look a lot better. I would argue that the lack of any decent pass rush was our biggest problem on d this season. Carl Lawson is a giant step in the right direction to solving that problem.

Von's visit is a little bit weirder, because we have his last OV and the in-home in our back pocket. If his OV at bama went REALLY well then go ahead and use the in-home IMO

I agree if his Bama visit has him considering shutting it down then certainly use the in home.

That and the lack of athleticism in the backfield. The two combined equalled the worst defense for UT in a century.

I think our biggest problem on defense was not the players but the coach. How else do you explain such a drop from one year to another? We have decent talent but the defense did not play to the strengths of the athletes.

True I've been trying my best to forget about those coaches. Good schemes can make bad players look good and and bad schemes can make good players look bad. Our one deep safety no matter what all season got us burnt on more than one occasion and got Byron Moore more criticism than he deserved for making him responsible for covering the entire field.
