That's not all recruits want in alot of cases, Nkemdiche wanted Clemson to sign his entire high school team for example. Alot of kids commit to coaches, not the team or the program. Dontre Wilson is a good example right now.
Bama and LSU get recruits because they win and have great coaching staffs (among other things), not because they totally dismiss the depth chart. There are plenty of kids that hold Bama and LSU offers but commit to other schools because they see an earlier opportunity for PT.
The point i'm trying to make is that kids look at depth charts and current commits (some more than others). Taking elite players at the same position can get some kids to look around. Players want to play with other good players, but not all of them want another guy pushing for their job.
FTR, this isn't the case with Lawson and Carr. If Lawson commits, I doubt it will have any effect on Carr.
My point is that your better off being honest and up front, and I would never gaurantee a person a spot or that I would stop recruiting a position if I needed more help. You cannot let a high school player dictate, that's all I'm saying. I don't think we have to worry about it, our coaches seem to be straight up and I like it. It will pay off in the long run.
I'm sure alot of kids would like that, but alot of coaches guarantee spots and lie about it to get kids anyway. You shouldn't let the kid dictate, but alot of schools need the kid more than the kid needs the school, and the kids know this and they'll say "well if you take another MLB in this class, then i can always commit to (blank) and not worry about the extra competition".
Not saying that it's right or wrong, just saying that it does happen in some cases.
Oh I would gaurantee the opportunity to play right off the bat, that's the point if your good enough you will play. Show me a player that wants something givin to him without sacrifice and I will show you a player that probably won't make it too far. Anyhow we aren't deep enough anywhere for a player to even be concerned with this type of thing. Recruiting that way get's you a usc lame kitten type team in the long run, and them types of players bust 95% of the time or either get lucky and get drafted by the oakland raiders only to fall off the football universe. GO BIG ORANGE!!
