'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

I don't see it as that big of a need especially if you have to choose which is what my post saying. I would take one of the bigtime defensive guys if I only had one or two picks.

Yea I understand where you're coming from. We need both the stud RB and the stud defensive players. I would hope it's not an either or situation.

A big time RB is the #1 need on this team and has been for years.

Perhaps that's correct but I believe lawson, bell, and any difference making LB we can get interested are more of a pressing need. Also I think the plan B options at RB will suffice if we miss on the big fish. Those D guys don't have nearly as good plan Bs imo

Lawson is the only one I will agree with. A great DE can have a huge impact on a team but until Shanahan joins this staff and turns scrubs into studs, UT needs a great RB.

Thanks for the feedback but if thats all you got, move along.

Every top school in the SEC gets it done with stud RBs. You go back and look at the downfall of this program and the one big thing that has been lacking has been that big time RB.

Lack of quality OL and DL and depth at those positions, imho.

The two finalists are strange to me. Sure, Bama has won 3 NCs in 4 years but the RB depth is sick, particularly with Yeldon who is going to be the best RB so far in the Saban era and Henry, Tenpenny, etc., in this class. Yes, I know Ingram won the Heisman and Richardson was a beast but Yeldon looked otherworldy this year and eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing in his freshman year, something neither of the other two did. Similarly, UGA barely lost the SEC championship to Bama but they have Gurley and Marshall who are both beasts and will only be sophomores. I think Kamara has the potential to be special but those depth charts are imposing, even for great players. UT's depth chart is better for playing time, co-starter, at minimum, by sophomore year.

Spurrier dominated an entire decade without an all world RB

Our downfall really hit in 08...thats not imo when it started but it bottomed out that year.

Foster was a senior.

My other point was our 2nd tier guys we are recruiting at RB aren't "scrubs" . They are plenty capable as far as I can tell.

We were/are not a big time RB away from being a championship type team. Defense wins this league. We need big time players at every level on D. That's the way I look at it.

UT can survive without a big time RB like Green or Kamara but, unless there is substantial defensive improvement (at every position), UT is unlikely to reclaim its rightful place in the national upper echelon.

Not sure I ever said we are 1 RB from championship level. Looking again. Nope.

I agree defense is key but if you dont have a great back to carry the load then the defense is going to be useless no matter who is on the roster.

As far as the OL comments, Georgia just ran all over everyone this year with what most thought was the worst OL going into the season.
