'13 CA TE Woody Quinn (UT signee)

Served as the radio broadcaster for home games - maybe he can replace Bob K in the booth

Wasn't a huge matchup problem for his opponents this season. 15 catches for the entire year.

Sometimes I think you guys(not directly at you nash) like every single player that has a page in this formum. They all can't be the guys we need!

Could be the QB not getting him the ball. Did he play in a pass or run offense and was his QB worth anything?

I don't know how many of you guys watched the Pac 10 in the late nineties, but there was a guy by the name of Danny Farmer who dominated for UCLA as a receiver and he was a big time volleyball player. Got drafted into the NFL to the Steelers I believe and unfortunately did not amount to much. Quinn reminds me of him. Farmer made the QB Cade McNown a top 15 pick. Volleyball players have hops and are pretty athletic. Will that translate in this case? I hope so if we want him.

Pepperdine is elite in volleyball also. This kid can use his volleyball skills in football.
I played a lot of volleyball in the past, and a lot of emphasis is placed on leaping ability, for both spiking and blocking. Also striking the ball out and away from the body (better angle to drive ball down and in-bounds). So, at 6'6," it would be very hard to stop him in a jump ball situation, in the end zone. Could be a very serious red zone weapon.

Quick question for the board. It appears to me that a number of guys who post on here seem to be insiders. As insiders, how often do you have conversations about recruiting with Coach Jones or any member of his coaching staff?

If the truth was known, probably a heck of a lot less than you talk to Batman.

He looked solid in this video, but goodness I've never seen someone get blown up so many times in their own highlight tape lol.

I noticed that also but I do like his ability to find the soft spot in the zone and he also blocks well at the line and down field.

Visiting this weekend.

“I kind of doubt I’ll commit, I think, right away,” Quinn said. “But I have no doubt that it might be very hard not to.”

The article seemed very positive. He's been in contact with Jones and Elder a lot. He's very excited to visit. His parents can't come because they are both teachers and can't miss work. However, he said that should not affect his ability to make a decision.

I get offering and accepting a commit from this guy..huge upside, 3 to play 3 and not alot of other choices at his position...

I didn't get Clay at all...not with Morris on the board and basically begging to be pursued by us

Agreed, I wasn't too excited about Clay and I am glad he went some where else.
