'13 VA RB Derrick Green (Michigan commit)

Biggest advantage Michigan has going for em is the continuity with the staff.. UT is having to play some major catch up now with all of these recruits..

Sn- it does help a TON having Jay G stay though

side note, i just found this rivals. it's got all kind of breakdowns, team rankings by defense, offense, top recruiters by conference, top 25 recruiters, basically just a lot of useless unformation that i will probably spend hours looking through. i can't tell though how recent the page is, especially since there isn't anything technically "official" since NSD 2012

I think you've nailed it. I would love to nab one of these 5-stars this cycle and hope maybe we can, but CBJ has to get control of the bigger narrative around Tennessee football before we can convince players of this caliber to come to Knoxville on a consistent basis.

The bigger narrative is still negative - coaching instability, 4 losing years in the last 5, terrible record against top 25 teams, a new coach that is not a big name and was our 4th pick, discontented fanbase, conflicts between acadamics and athletics, etc.

I think CBJ has the skill set to turn around all parts of that narrative over the next year and that will go a long way torwards helping us win big-time recruits.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Michigan run the spread like us? I'm surprised this guy doesn't want to play in a pro style offense.

I may be wrong, but I didn't think we ran true a spread.... I though we ran an extremely up tempo version of the pro-style and then sprinkled in some elements of the spread to keep defenses of balance...

Fact...?

Your exactly right. Like CBJ said its not a spread. Its pro style with spread mixed in but very physical.

Only 1 coach was offered and that was Strong. And no neither Gruden nor Gundy were supposedly offered.

Still nothing from hubbs and crew or Callahan and crew on his
Visit with graham and jones?

Would that be a good or bad thing? Woukd be awesome if he committed but is
Waiting for a splash announcement time or something

Dang. Put a Power T on this guy and let's get it on!

Personally I think he's a good player but not in same league as Yeldon and Gurley. Those are two monstrous talents. Their footwork is much better than Green. And you're saying he's more physical than Jamal Lewis. Come on Man........................Plus getting 1500-1700 rushing yards would probably lead the SEC plus winning the Heisman on top of that. My gosh. :whistling:

A freshman quarterback was within 100 yards of leading the SEC in rushing this year. Anything is possible.

Not saying this kid is gonna do it but it could happen with one of these recruits. Freshman and Sophomores are making a much bigger impact than ever before. I (barely) remember when Freshman couldn't even PLAY varsity NCAA football. Those days are long gone.

Again, did you predict last year Manziel was gonna win the Heisman and account for 43 touchdowns. Me either.....

i may be wrong, and probably am but i thought i heard somewhere that in the dead period anyone representing the university couldn't even make any comments on the status of a recruit. can't remember where i heard that but then again i couldn't find any official rules saying this either. anyone know?

I believe you can't have any face to face contact anywhere; however, I believe you can write them or talk to them on the phone (there may be a stipulation that the recruit has to reach out first...not sure).

I just don't see us landing this kid...

Im opposite, like Skeeter said a month ago he is just looking for an excuse to committ to UT. Michigan's staff has been the same and UT's is almost completely new and its neck and neck. Really like our chances, especially if he doesnt enroll early he can get to know the staff a little better and Jay staying on is huge.
