UA TEs 2011

Total 54 catches for 576 yds

Top 2 TEs

34 catches for 356 yds
16 catches for 191 yds

UT TEs for 2011

Total 39 catches for 436 yds

Top 2 TEs

29 catches for 344 yds
6 catches for 54 yds

So just curious does that make UT a team that also under utilizes its TEs. Especially a team that is such a pass happy team according to most on here vs UA that runs first. Just asking.:)

I will just piggy back this.

UGA TEs for 2011.

Total 61 catches for 862 yds.

We basically had 1 transfer TE making those catches. I would ask that you guys compare the 2011 talent.

Mark Richt/UGA has had ridiculous success with TE's. Watson, Pope, McMichael and Charles trump having just Witten. Stupid comment was stupid.

Ga has def had some very good tight ends that we wanted. So that piece I agree with but you are clearly not a vol fan if you have already forgotten that Luke stocker and brad cottam were just drafted in the past few yrs. Rivera numbers were hampered by the bray injury. He was headed for a big yr for a tight end before the qb shuffle. Is that as impressive as Georgia's list? No but we have had more te success than just witten

I said major contributors in the NFL. Stocker's too early to tell and Cottam had 9 career catches before being released. I'm not here to argue who has had better success at developing TE my point was that UGA does not under-utilize the TE position as the poster claimed. Richt has had a great track record with getting TE to the NFL, so McNneil would have a chance to be successful in their offense, as he would here or any number of SEC schools.

Less room for Henry

Henry has a spot regardless. Mcneil was already in the plans but he has grade issues and they were trying to see what hunter henry was going to do, thats why they wouldnt let him commit when he was set to announce the first time. Andy Dodd decommitted yesterday. so they are back to the same number of commits

His father wants him to keep his option open and it's some thought he may not qualify. McNeil is now enrolled at Milford Prep in NY bc of grade issues that would have kept him off the field for his HS. Also, bama is recruiting another TE.

Alabama is frontrunner for 4-star TE, who also likes UGA | AJC College Sports Recruiting

Not sure where you are getting your info because grades were never the isuue. If you read the other article he graduated from HS in August. If grades were an issue he would not have been able to graduate. The academic concernes were from a core class.

McNeil graduated from Hillside High School this summer and will attend a prep school this fall before enrolling at Alabama next spring.

The reason he is going to Milford Prep has nothing to with grades but playing eligibility. According to NCHSAA a player only has 4 years of eligibility to play a sport. He started playing a varsity sport as an 8th grader. Last year his junior year was his last year of eligibility.

King said McNeil, who is 17-years-old, followed the advice of a basketball coach to reclassify at a private school in Charlotte out of eighth grade, which impacted his eight semester of high school eligibility, according to N.C. High School Athletic Association rules.

The NCHSAA states that a student-athlete only has eight semesters of athletic eligibility with their initial high school graduating class.

Just because it is posted on a UF board does not make it the truth. :toast:

Thanks for the info btw. :hi:

Just giving you a hard time. The rumors I think started on a UGA board when he moved his announcement back and UGA seemed to be slipping. next rumors began he had grade issues and they backed off and next it was making the rounds on UA boards.

Either way it seems he will take atleast one visit besides UA and that is to UF. Who are still recruiting him very hard. I am not sure he will take any after that. :hi:

Apparently he's no longer a UA commit. Their 247site has removed him from the commit list. He's taking an OV to LSU this weekend and another OV( TBD) before Jan in hopes of enrolling early.

From 247: Here's the update from the 'Bama site from Tim Watts.

"Just talked to our LSU publishers and they believe UA commitment Josh McNeil is on an official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend. We know for sure he is on the visitors list which indicated he told the LSU staff he is coming. We are watching the situation and should know tonight whether or not he makes the trip.

Another situation we are watching closely with McNeil is whether or not he will be able to transfer at mid-year as expected. We spoke to someone close to McNeil and he said there could be an issue with his transcript and it appears likely that unless something changes he will not be a mid-year transfer.

What exactly the issue is we don’t know yet but those sources believe he will likely not be a January enrollee and will like a summer guy at best. If true he will have to take additional classes to be eligible by then. And if that is the case it’s unclear if he would end up in UA’s class at all.

EDIT: I just confirmed with another source that the transcript problem will likely keep McNeil out of the UA 2013 signing class. His trip this weekend is likely a result of that.

We will keep you posted as more information becomes available. "

Apparantly his transcript threw up a red flag. The same issues he was having before prep school regarding some core courses are back. The word is he may not be a part of any class until 2014 or until he qualifies.

Makes sense because 2 weeks ago word was out the UA staff was making a strong late push for H Henry, whose parents are not sold on the new Ark HC yet. Still thinks he ends up at Ark but UA has made it interesting and the timing goes along with JM no longer a part of the class.
