Someone please explain why would we even be looking for a coach if Gruden had already been bagged? This doesn't pass the smell test.

Ok this will be my last post in the Gruden thread, and I mean it this time. I appreciate all the contacts, keep in touch. I do not post in the FF forum so I guess its off to recruiting football thread for me as home base lol.

I want a guy that WANTS to be at UT over a guy that has to be dragged in kicking and screaming. Butch Jones wants to be here, and waited on two BCS schools offers to see what happened at Tennessee. He will bleed orange and give his all if he doesn't refuse the job. He is a major upgrade over Dooley and when everyone gets over it not being Gruden you will see.

BC is out, sorry for not blindly being positive about Gruden and trying to actually discuss things in the thread that has been my home for months. What little sanity this thread had has now gone, and I cannot stand this amount of negativity.

Go Vols and Coach Jones if you actually take the job.

Why do we keep running all these names out there! We really look stupid! The ad just needs to say nothing! Can u imagine the pc if they run jones out there or something similar? No one is gonna ask him anything! But the media will hammer Hart! It would be VERY ugly!

I wish. Just haven't been given enough to believe. We have a lot of problems if we have had this much time and are now into the third tier of coaches.

If you want an explanation of why we're still "shopping" guys look at my previous posts. There's a pretty lengthy one that totally explains it. cliff notes version: the plan was to fire Dooley after a bowl, he didn't make it unfortunately. We needed a plan that involved us looking like we're shopping for guys while Gruden finishes his season fulfillment to MNF. Also good for Hart because if Gruden appears to be on the market, we won't be able to afford him. NFL teams will be able to put up way more cash than UT can.

The feeling we are all having about the possibility that the AD will screw this up must be what the white collar criminal feels like right before he gets gang raped in the prison shower.

Not necessarily...we're on his timetable...why do y'all think we need to hurry on this hire? Chill the F out...

He can be hired in January and boom, the recruits will line up so fast to play at Tennessee...we're fine!
