If Butch Jones is allowed to be hired, it shows that the current administration does not care one iota about the football program. We will see how they feel when all of their prescious income dries up to a trickle.

If this happens, this program will be really down for another decade.

Clean house now. The University needs somebody with a vision to be great at everything. And not one who believes that you cut the legs of athletics off at the knees to show that you are somehow serious about academics.

Huh - isn't that strange. At the end of the day, we're all stuck with the same coach. But during the process, we are loving it while you are mr grump.

If Gruden is not in play, then the AD needs to slow down, take a deep breath and recalibrate. Rushing forward out of desperation is never a good option.

I'm not "in the know" enough to put a timeline out there but I've stated several times that I'm 100% sure it's Gruden. Unless a damn meteor hits him on the way to the podium it's Gruden. I know I don't post a bunch on these forums but I read daily and have been coming here and been a registered VN member since 2004. And the only thing I can do to try to lend some credibility and reassure some of you guys is something I stated here first last night:

If Jon Gruden isn't named the next head coach at the University of Tennessee I will never post on the VN again and retire as an active member. That's the best I can do to put anything on the line on a message board guys. Just believe me.......it's Gruden - it's really happening!

I have not followed this thread in a week or better. How exactly is it that you are so sure?

Yea. I'm really struggling to be positive.

I have always been more hopeful than confident, but even my hope is waning.

There isn't a shred of evidence that Dave Hart is capable of all of the stuff that people are proposing. He hasn't hired a football coach in 24 years. He is out of his league.

Guys they have to hire someone soon, and have to get someone that will say yes. I know no one wants to believe it but NO major winning coach will come here right now. A lot of private concerns have been made public and those will get fixed, and Jones is a solid coach.....MUCH better than Dooley.

When he backed up on Colorado this morning after Strong surprisingly turned us down, I felt like this was coming.
