Hart should do whatever possible to mend relations with C.Strong, and if not he should throw the kitchen sink at Gruden.

At least go down fighting.

I've been saying since day 1 that Dave Hart was a complete joke, hope people are finally starting to see that. David Blackburn should have got the job over Hart. But Cheek is also to blame for a lot of this mess, leadership starts at the top & from the top to Hart it's a complete joke & embarrasment to the University & the fan base.

At this point we are back to square 1, for me the names I call & go after are: Greg Roman, Jim Mora Jr., & Bo Pelini.

If those guys tell you no then for all things holy please do not settle for a mid-tier conference coach that hasn't proven s*** like we did w/ Dooley.

Want a coach w/ integrity, a coach that will represent this school & program the right way, a coach that will embrace our traditions, a coach that has proven his worth in the SEC, then you bring back Phillip Fulmer right now!! He's 62, likely has 5-7 good years left, let him come back put a good foundation back w/ this program before it gets any worse. He'd get us back to winning 8-9 games a year at least. Bring MY coach back, the coach I grew up knowing as Tennessee football.

I'd much rather do that than hire a unproven winner to a ridiculious contract like we did w/ Dooley & be f***** once again 3-4 years from now.

Bo Pelini is a fxcking joke at Nebraska.

I agree with the bold. I'm a big fan of Mora and Roman, but I'm torn on Pelini. He's better than a lot of coaches, but there are some things that bother me about him.

I do agree that now is not the time to waste on an unproven coach, but Fulmer is not the answer.

I would rather take a chance on an unproven coach rather than take a coach who has proven he can not take his team to an elite level.

So you'd rather take a chance on a possible Dooley hire again than bring back a HOF coach? Ok, got ya.

there is a BIG difference in Guys running the show at Arkansas and at tennessee.

Arkansas just Yanked a 3 time conference winning coach and we are left with our D*cks in our hands...

Just think about that

the guys who run the show for us are GARBAGE. Boosters included.

we will never be Sh*t again because of these Dickheads.

Reality > Fantasy
You ever thought that maybe this job really isn't all that good and we got lucky that Majors and Fulmer, both great coaches, were TN guys? Like, they might not have taken this job otherwise. Majors hesitated anyway.

Since you know what is going on (Gruden).... why don't you enlighten us?

I can't wait to hear this.

TCV, you know I am not an insider, and I have never claimed to have sources. However, I have followed the Gruden thread (yeah, laugh all you want), like Ron, from the beginning...yeah, I made the mistake to wander over there, as I was curious. The OGs (Lexvol, Borovol, OldVol75, GmanTN, Little DTO, Springbokvol (who started the thread), and I may be missing someone) laid the foundation of the plan that Gruden would be our next head coach. Some of these posters have the same sources and some have different sources. Recently, Liper has come into the mix and his info matched up with theirs, up until last Friday...which is when info really shut down. All of the info they have received has aligned...many, many details. They laid it out without getting too in depth and giving away their sources. It would take me forever to post it all, but we watched these things happen just as they said. They said there would be a time that things would look extremely bleak and would sound like it was off(last Friday would sure qualify)...Hart would do his thing and go through the interview process. Boomervol came into the mix over the weekend, I believe. He said Hart has been a "pawn" throughout this whole process. His role in this is to save the day...I know, I have said it over and over, but I am sorry. Gruden and Dooley are friends, and Gruden DID NOT want it to look like he pushed DD out the door. Now, if and when we announce Gruden, it will look like this just happened recently and not that it had been planned for some time. We have always been on Gruden's timeline. Initially, the plan would have been mid to late December; however, since Dooley couldn't win the games that he should and we missed a bowl, the timeline was majorly disrupted.

Now, I mentioned Boomervol. I thought he was a troll and blowing smoke when he came on, but he said that Gruden was happening, and to expect us to interview multiple coaches. These coaches would one by one, either not be interested, get a raise and stay, or take a job elsewhere. He said one of them would be "so close" that we would think it's a done deal and want to puke and cry, because it wasn't Gruden...sounds like Charlie Strong. Yay4bray, who everyone thinks is a troll and I was very skeptical too, said we would be denied by 3 different coaches and then we would announce Gruden. Gundy, Strong, Fedora denied us yesterday. He said yesterday that Gruden would be announced in 24 hours...I am waiting for that to happen, but he has been right so far, along with everyone else I mention to you. There is more that I am leaving out, but this is the best summary I can give you at this time.

I apologize to my fellow Vol fans for the posts yesterday...I was so giddy to see things happen as they were said to happen, that it made me 100% confident that they were all right from the beginning, and we were getting Gruden. Some were saying it would be announced Friday or Monday, but I fully believe that this happens today, based on what has been said and happened. If and when it does, this place will explode. Why do you guys think Freak is updating the server and making tweaks (this is my only logical conclusion...Gruden is happening)? You can take this all with a grain of salt. I have been disappointed with this program for the last 5+ years, so if this doesn't happen, then I can deal with another disappointment, as I am used to it. GO BIG ORANGE!! VFL!!

I quit UT football

One these days I'm going to learn not to post when I'm drinking...

I don't quit but words cannot describe how terribly disappointed I am in this outcome...

I now have major doubts about the future of our program (I know...I should have before)...

IMO this outcome is indicative of major, major problems that most o us aren't privy to...I now 100% believe the stuff skeeter has said about Cheek and the BOT...I'm afraid we're in serious trouble

David Shaw. Why has his name not even been mentioned?

At least gauge interest...if we pay you 3.5...no...4.0...ok thanks. Best coach available.

Shaw, Roman, Taggart...Harbaugh is modern day Walsh.

Lets interview those three.

I see upside in Taggart. He would recruit well.

Wow. Gator Cheek and the fool Bama Dave have just humiliated UT. Although I was against the Strong hire, it's still insulting to be turned down by the HC of Louisville. Laughable too.

Arkansas just hired the big 10 champion coach while we get rebuffed by Strong... Just comical.

After this fiasco, Hart should be fired for being incompetent and Phillip Fulmer should be braught in as AD. All Hart accomplished was getting Gundy and Strong raises.

Charlie Strong is loyal to his first head coaching job, getting paid 4M according to some, and joining ACC. Not sure I blame that on Hart. I do blame not striking while iron was hot unless Charlie wanted a period for research. If Hart nixed a coach due to investigation, I am in support of this action.

Hart still has a chance to prove himself...Shaw, Roman, Peterson, Patterson, etc.

However my confidence is lessening.

Here's the wrap up on yesterday and why the search is essentially starting over.

Here are what I believe are a couple of reasons why Strong stayed at Louisville.

1. Academic concerns at Tennessee (relationship with the University and the Athletic Department) -- I know it's something Strong asked some people about on Saturday and then on Tuesday, he spent a ton of phone time trying to get a real handle on it. This morning someone said that maybe he was even trying to bring one of his academic support guys from Louisville with him.

2. His wife had cold feet - That's why Hart and his wife flew to Louisville Wednesday afternoon to try and ease any concerns she had in order to get the deal done.

3. Maybe an issue with Clint Hurtt - I don't know how much of the rumors of Strong wanting to bring Hurtt and Tennessee saying no are actually true. Someone this morning from the Louisville/Strong side of things indicated he heard it was an issue. I can't believe that would not have been discussed on Friday when Hart and Strong met for an extensive period of time. Hurtt is linked with the issues at Miami and many feel he's going to get punished by the NCAA.

Finally, many asked me last night about what Hart did wrong and I think the mistake he made is that he didn't fly home Wednesday afternoon/early evening without either Strong himself or a signed Memorandum of Understanding.

At this point, Strong doesn't matter. Tennessee has to move on. It's my believe that Hart and members of his executive team are meeting this morning to reshape this search and start again.
