What about a big picture guy, a guy known for his intelligence, a guy like Neyland with a military background, a guy likely to be able to lock down recruits, a guy looking for work, an out of the box hire, yes: David Petraeus. :boredom:

I'd love it. However, I'd be shocked to see him come here. It wouldn't hurt anything for Hart to gve him a call though.

I'd have never thought Arkansas could pull Bielema. As much as I dislike Arky, they want after some big time coaches and did better than most thought they would. It wouldn't hurt Hart to take some chances and call some guys and hope someone shows interest.

I don't claim to know how things work in the seedy underworld of college football coaching searches, but why would other coaches allow themselves to take part of a huge smokescreen for another guy (Gruden)? I don't know. I'm confused. I don't know anything anymore. I don't even know why my students listen to me. My fiance as well.

I have a couple friends in med and dental school at UL. They told me UL offered around 4.7M. No idea how accurate that is, but that's crazy.

Gruden isn't happening.

People are clinging to that hope because they want to believe something good will happen. I can't blame them, but Gruden just isn't realistic.

Why do these Grudenites remind me of the Hari Krishna that used to work airports? Ok, guess I will go on and sleep on the coaching search. Might miss a breaking midnight TFP story but ... thems the breaks I guess.

I don't believe all the Gruden smokescreen stuff, but if Gruden was truly interested before, how would you feel if Hart tried to renegotiate with Gruden again and give him what he wants? If what I read was correct talks stalled because of salary for assistants, if we give him the extra money for assistants we'd have a great coach and be done the search and Gruden would have gotten what he wanted. Sounds like a win win to me but that's JMO and honestly I don't blame Hart for looking at other cheaper options first but with coaches turning us down we need to do something quick and I feel like the fanbase would come together with someone like Gruden or riot with another Dooley type hire.
