Recruiting Forum: Football Talk II

I think I'm pretty clearly on record about how I feel about this...

Assuming everything goes through I believe with all of my heart that we will look back on this one day and compare it to when UF hired Meyer away from Utah...

This is by far the best hire we could make...recruiting will explode and players will want to run through a wall for this man....and on top of it he's one of the best defensive minds in football which is exactly what we need...

I was so worried we were going to mess this up...Gundy or Fedora might have been a good hire but they would not have been the right hire with Strong on the table...

Well done Hart!!!

And strap in Vol fans...this jet plane is about to take off!!!!!

Great post. I have been hanging out in the wrong forum. So many are against Strong and dont understand why. I couldn't be more excited.

I need to just stay in this thread because the threads in the football section make me question the intelligence of Vol fans.

add sanity to the list...most are saying he can't recruit since he does not have a top 10 class at Louisville. It's all relative.

UT Tradition + Facilities + Stadium + Fanbase + Recruiting Machine = VolStrong

I think its was either BreakerBoy or NicksJunk who had one of the most undderated comments about FF..

something like "Those Scholars" over there lol

:eek:lol:

Get on the train, Vol Nation. Because we're about to run through the SEC.

Temper those expectations ;) we have THE hardest schedule in the country next year. It'll take a little bit. I'll be ecstatic if we just beat everyone we should. One upset would put me over the top.

Joey Kent just tweeted, "looking forward to seeing my bro tee tomorrrow, going to throw on my tennessee polo. #subtlehints #doingmypart"

Some of you may not agree but I think one of the first things after NSD that cholly should do is try to move or REmove the Oregon game from next year's schedule.

Agree...no one thinks we will have more than 8 wins next year (dependent on who returns), however, this is about long term success. starts on the trail.

Don't understand the Tee love. Great recruiter, but is he the best we can do at WR or QB when it comes to developing players?

Oh, I know. No one should expect much next year. There's still a whole lot of Dooley on the team. A stain that bad take a couple years to wear off.

Disagree, Highly doubtful we are in the championship picture so might as well play in one of the Biggest Non Conf games of the season. Good chance that gameday is there

We play Oregon, Bama, and FLA on the road with GA and SC at home. We will be in enough high profile games without Oregon.

DD loaded up the offensive side of the roster minus an elite RB. We have some adequate parts on defense too, just need some good coaching to maximize our potential. He was our Shula. Hopefully Strong can become something close to our Saban.

No way Gameday will be there. We play two throwaway games before them and so highly doubtful we will be ranked

What good news? Nothing has happened. As soon as something has happened, we're going to pass it along, and you guys can celebrate all you want. Just don't want anybody to read too much into silence from us.

Lol. I've been saying it for a while. These guys are not as connected as Hubbs.

But good chance Oregon is #1 and may not be any other big games that weeks.

and if we start 2-0 (two blowouts)

I think it is very likely

Play Oregon. It is the tradition of these intersectional games that keeps Tennessee relevant as a national program.

They really aren't.

I was laughing yesterday when they were saying they believed Butch Jones might be as high as 3rd on our list. :eek:lol:

I don't even think Hubbs and the VQ crew ever mentioned his name.

Possible I guess.

Just think it is risky to go out there and play them. If we lose by 30+ our fanbase is so fragile some will shatter and think here we go again ... And just think it creates unnecessary problems when we have a tough schedule already.

And if strong goes 8-4/9-3 in his
First yr the train will be rolling.

And what happens if you go out there and win by 2?

I can see it from this perspective as well. But think for a first yr coach it would be best to have as many wins as possible to generate momentum.

Pick the big games back up next yr
