This is what bothers me. My gut tells me that we had Charlie Strong on the hook, he wanted the job, and we kept looking. That would upset me too if I was in Strong's position.

At some point you have to pull the trigger. You don't get to interview every candidate available, and think that by the end of that weeks long process everyone will still be available.

This thought scares me. I'm afraid Hart is going to screw this up.

Miami, USC and Oklahoma would be the closest.

Probably right that they were the closest. In terms of play selection though:

2004 Oklahoma: Run: 445 Pass: 428
2001 Miami: Run: 415 Pass: 340
2000 Oklahoma: Run: 394 Pass: 488

SN: It is worth noting that this year Gundy has run it 478 times and passed 461 times, and has run more than passed every year but 2011 and 2010.

I may have spoken too soon, unfortunately. I hope the wheels don't fall of this thing and we turn into an EVEN BIGGER three ring circus.

This isn't like the business world, where you can get resume's from thousands, interview hundreds of candidates and end up with a few dozen perfectly qualified individuals to chose from.

There are maybe only a few hundred total qualified candidates for a Division 1 coaching job, at most. The vast majority don't have the tools or experience to run a major program.

It is like the difference between a buyer's and a seller's market. This is a Coach's market; Hart needs to realize that you operate on their terms, not the other way around. When you find a candidate who fits your needs, who wants you too, pull the trigger. Don't leave the interview thinking, I have ten more people I need to talk to before I can make make a decision.

I have from good sources that Dave Hart and Phil Fulmer will be seen together very soon.

TIFWIW.

only partially kidding, of course.

Arkansas has their guy and it's not Gundy. Someone close to Arkansas told me a few minutes that the media covering that search has been dialed in on the right guy so who knows.

As for Tennessee, we believe that they have or they are speaking with Fedora.

Nothing new on the Charlie Strong front although some wonder how patient he will be with Tennessee.

And as for Gundy it appears that people are waiting on him to do something.

I deleted my post in the other thread and deleted your reference to that. I shouldn't have posted what I did because it was just rumor and not with enough fact. Poor decision on my part to say that because I don't have enough to verify how true it is.

Sorry.

North Carolina media deny that Fedora met with Hart today. It seems he was told that he was not their man and is likely out of the mix and made his announcement to give him plausible deniability.

Some reporting that Smart wanted to coach UA in BCSNCG and AU said no. At the moment, Malzahn emerging as top choice.

What a circle jerk!

If what Hubbs is saying is true, then I think it confirms your theory.

Strong wants the job but Hart is just sitting back taking his time waiting on Gundy. We're going to end up getting burned in this if we aren't careful. Strong ain't gonna wait forever. This just makes me mad.
