Yeah, I remember when he played HS ball. In hindsight I guess we had just recruited Crompton who when recruited was a HUGE get. Didn't quite work the way we thought but I can understand UT's stance.

And if it is Strong I hope he goes straight to Va. To see Derrick Green. Then back to Nashville to see Jalen Ramsey.

Swain and Skeeter both already said that there is 6 maybe 7 really good (4 star) or above recruits that would come here if Strong recruited them. Skeeter also said Jalen Ramsey and Kameron Miles may give us another look as well....This guy will be gold at recruiting. He has gotten at least 1 Army All-American every year he has been at Louisville....

Exactly. Coaches don't recruit in a vacuum.

Give a good salesman a bad product, and he'll do OK.
Give a bad salesman a good product, and he'll do OK.

Give a good salesman a good product, and he'll do really well.

The coach is only one piece. He has to have something to sell. I believe UT offers something pretty special.

The best measure is improvement. Strong has made the LU team BETTER since he came.

Just wait..this guy will be a good recruiter for us. We will consistently be in the top 10 IMO and at that point it's about developing talent.

I wouldn't worry too much about recruiting. If Strong comes here, he will 1.) Have the money to hire better assistants/better recruiters. 2.) Tennessee can draw higher caliber athletes than Louisville does. 3.) If Tennessee played Louisville this year we would have lost.

Edited your post with an alternate viewpoint.

Difference: Fulmer inherited a storied, successful, talented program and began its decline. Strong inherited a pitiful program and began its rebuild.

According to what site?

On rivals his classes rank #1 or #2 in the big east for 2010, 2011, and 2012.

And he only has 10 commitments at the moment. It's kinda hard to get any sort of high ranking with 10 commitments. I would also bet that has a lot to do with all of the speculation around his return.

strong recruiting under quality head coaches Spurier and Meyer - good.

strong recruiting for himself as head coach - not so good.

Let the excuses begin.

ESPN named his recruiting coordinator recruiter of the year last season after pulling in Louisville's best class in the history of the program... had that class ranked 22nd. FWIW
