He wants big names man.

Then, he needs to accept it's probably not going to happen. Fedora, Gundy, and Strong are the names consistently showing up, and after today, all will have had face-to-face interviews. Those are your likely candidates whether anyone likes it or not.

You came into this thread with a vendetta, against Charlie Strong. As it appears, no one is going to change your mind, so why argue? Your opinion is your opinion, but there is no point in arguing about it if you refuse to see the arguments in favor of Strong.

Wrong. Just because I don't want Charlie Strong to be UT's coach, I don't have a vendetta against him. I don't know the man. I think that an offensive guru, not unlike Kevin Sumlin is the way to go. I here some of you argue that offensive guru's are a dime a dozen. I disagree. I think it will be easier to find a good DC, to go with that offensive guru.

Would be ok with Gundy or Fedora. Strong, not so much.

That list contains our next coach. My only question is Patterson. Did Hammy burn that bridge?

Florida had to settle for unproven Will Muschamp to replace Urban Meyer. LSU had to take Les Miles from Okie State to replace Saban. Les Miles was a very questionable hire to a lot of the LSU fanbase. Just shows you how hard it is to get a big name coach. That guy hates the Strong move for no apparent reason. In his 3rd year with his second year players leading the way he has Louisville in a BCS bowl game.

Can we please move on??? Everyone has their opinions, has shared them, and minds are not being changed....

To change subjects, congratulations to Coach Fulmer for his HOF induction. Great man who did great things for this university and program, but whose tenure ended in an unfortunate way. Today is an honor to him!!

Good for Phil. Next.

You haven't made it seem that way considering all of the banter you've dished out making arguments against his actually pretty impressive record at a once sh!t program.

What's your basis for that argument? Name one offensive-minded coach that's won anything of relevance in the defense-oriented SEC, in the current era, outside of Meyer? If you leave Meyer out of the equation (who had Strong as a DC, by the way), then it doesn't really do anything for me. Saban and Muschamp have the two best teams in the SEC, IMO, and we play them every year.

Okay so Florida beat TEXAS A&M who beat Bama. Now what????

Florida's quality wins: LSU, SCAR, FSU, Texas A&M

Bama's quality wins: LSU, UGA........soft schedule to the max

Common opponents: LSU- Florida looked much better in their win

Texas A&M- Florida dominated Johnny Football and crew second half(50 yds total in the second half) plus they got the win. Bama lost a tight game

UGA- Bama pulled a tight win, Florida lost a tight ball game.

Bama shouldn't have been ranked ahead of Florida throughout the year if the BCS was any good.

I firmly believe that Florida team would beat Bama. That defense would not allow 300+ rushing yards.

Kansas St has played a tougher schedule than Bama also. I guess that means they are better too.

UF defense is legit but could their offense put up enough points? They dont have the QB or WRs to expose them deep which is Bama's one weakness. Their RB would get some yards but its not like Bama is going to give up 200 yards rushing. Bama has only rushed for 300 yards 3 this year so they just dont have to rely on the run to win games. UGA pass defense has been better than UF's overall so its not like they cant be passed on. Also they got A&M at the beginning of the year before Johnny Manziel even knew his own name. UF played a great schedule but to say they would beat Bama without any legit reason to back that up is meh, imo.

I know it has to be eating you up inside that Bama is going to the title game again, especially after you picked them to lose 4 times this year. Your hate for bama makes you overlook the obvious. But hey it is what it is. No harm done. :peace2:

Of all the arguments for any coaching candidate, I think this one far outweighs all the others. UL didn't give a damn about football after Petrino left or even before he was there. Strong is changing the culture there, and he has them in a BCS bowl.

Kevin Sumlin beat #1 ranked bama. He will continue to win, long after Johnny Heisman is gone. aTm made a homerun hire.

Lol. Hindsight is 20-20. Homerun hire? Maybe you missed Jay's post earlier. T A&M fans were beside themselves when Sumlin tanked in the CUSA before he got there. No one had high hopes for A&M this year in the SEC. Sure, they beat Bama. Cool. When they win the SEC West or get to a BCS bowl we can have a different discussion.

So Strong, Fedora, and Gundy are the final 3.

I'm really hoping it's Strong. We need a coach who knows the importance of playing defense and running the ball.

Fedora or Gundy is not the answer. Neither one are great recruiters, neither one is dedicated to running the ball, and both usually struggle on defense. It's very hard to win that way in the SEC.

The fact is, if Fl wanted to win the SEC, they should have took care of UGA. They didn't do that so that's all on them. You guys beat UGA, so you are the champs. I hate you guys, but I hate ND worse. Go represent the SEC and BTHO ND.

Since we do want to beat Bama and Saban we're headed in the right direction with Strong. We'll just do like Texas A&M. Get a black coach, give him some sunglasses, then let him come to T-town his first year and hand Saban his azz with a less talented team. Yeah we just need to see if Strong likes Oakleys or Ray-Bans for shades. :)

You're obviously fooling around with this one, but why do you say "Get a Black coach..." if not to be openly and boldly racist? Many readers might like your alloy of racism and a-holery, but I find your posts increasingly offensive.

Gundy or Fedora could be the same.

They will contend for the west next year. Book it.
