Looks like Swan Man and Corner36 have very different opinions of Strong...

This is just my opinion

--He is not a good intereview
--He is not a good communicator
--I question whether he could raise money
--I think he is an average recruiter
--Not sure on his staff or philosophy on offense...would it work in the SEC???
--Everyone wins at Louisville...Hell, Joh L. Smith won at Louisville and that dude is a moron...the league is weak

The other thing that works against him, whether it be right or wrong, is that it's rare if not unheard of, for a large D-1 school to have both a Black head basketball coach and a black head football coach. Can't think of one off the top of my head. Again, I am not being racist. As most of you know, my best friend is Black.

Yes, he is an excellent recruiter and will recruit on a top tier level right out of the box at UT. Anyone who has remote knowledge of Strong knows this. As for being a communicator, he communicates on a very high level to his target audience. 16-23 year old males and their parents.

i'm not sure i would call John L a moron - he is right that really only 1 of the last 4 coaches there hasnt done a good job though - Jurich runs a good program and that certainly helps their coaches be successful (prob 1 of the most respected AD's in the country - conference didnt hurt either

Think about it.....how would someone like OK State's version of Brent Hubbs know what a coach at another school is doing? This tells me that he knows that his own coach is about to make a move.

Buck has a pretty solid point. If he can communicate to elite recruits and their parents effectively enough to get them to UT then the number of "W's" that could follow will communicate well enough to raise some significant money.

Also, if he can communicate to Papa John's, Yum Brands and some whiskey or big-time horse people then I am sure he can speak the language of Pilot Oil, Dish Network, and some real estate developers.

Tennessee conducting one final interview tonight in NYC, Jim Mora of UCLA. Tennessee previously interviewed Charlie Strong (in Indy on Fri.) and Mike Gundy (at his home on Sunday). Sources tell us Tennessee is expected make an announcement tomorrow out of that pool of 3.

I like both options each has an up and down side. They both will need a great hire at OC or DC. Strong has the better recruiting record but with the right staff I think Gundy could recruit too.

I do not care how he communicates with the kids. I do care how he communicates with the players. I want CCS at UT and will be happy if it happens.

I would be happy with any of the three!! Much better pool of names than the last time around thankfully.

If its a done deal with Gundy, why even interview Mora,Jr. ?
