To add, Larry thinks Strong is a better possibility at UT than Gundy, but he mentioned that things may not be close to done at the moment.

Alright guys, first time in a while I've been genuinely excited about this search. Hope the rumors on Strong are true and we announce him soon. I think he's a very solid hire and I look forward to seeing what kind of recruiting class he'll pull together.

originally posted by gallavol: ESPN is saying Auburn has Charlie Strong as their top candidate. They could out bid what Hart wants to pay and we won't get him anyhow, but he does sound like a guy who is waving bye bye to to Louisville.

I hope you are right. We'll see. :hi:

The only reason they're talking to him is to shut Dye and YellaWood up. I'm in Birmingham right now so maybe I'm out of the loop but if Smart is ahead of Petrino, I'd like him to teach me how to interview.

Then y'all probably won't hear much from me, I'll be running Microsoft.

Maybe but majority of AU fans are not laughing. To them it's worse than UT hiring Franklin.

My soon-to-be-father-in-law went to Auburn and is one of the biggest Auburn homers you could ask for. We were just facebooking about our respective coaching searches, and I asked him about Smart flirting with Auburn. He seemed to think that if Auburn got him, it would be sticking one to Bama. I quietly took it in and left him with his dream. Don't won't to fracture the families already, even before the marriage.

Again, I hope you are right, but it seems to have broken Smart's way this afternoon.

I think Auburn blew their chance with Strong after it was rumored he interviewed there before his championship game. Unless of course he really did...

My guess is that he would be in the minority about hiring Smart would stick it to Bama. Most think it adds to perception of "little brother syndrome" and Smart would jump to UGA job the first chance he got.

5 Vols named all SEC

It should be a crime that AJ McCarron was pick over Tyler Bray.. or even Aaron Murray. AJ Johnson was also absent from the list with 138 tackles 8.5TFL and 1 sack.

Kirby smart would be better off at northern Illinois for a couple years. I doubt he's ready for a sec hc job. That could be a Derek Dooley disaster. So hopefully that's what happens.

Say this on another site.

WSFA reported earlier that Gus and Kirby are the top 2 choices and Petrino has not even been contacted.

I just not sure Smart would be the answer for any major program right now. I think Smart is just trying to get his name out there and maybe a pay raise. Saban does push ACs out there for interview experience and to help get them higher salaries.

I could be wrong but AU has to be able to do better for a HC. I mean at least someone with HC experience.

He had a lot of tackles but what else?

He had very little impact on the game.

he put up Keith Brooking numbers LOL
