If Strong tossed his hat in the ring on Day 1 wanting the job...even more of a reason to hire him.

Seems to me the guy would have a bit of a fire under him...perhaps he feels slighted by various schools. Can't hurt...

This is the most damning part in my eyes. They have as much resource as anyone outside of Oregon and they still can't hire a defensive coordinator in 8 years? I'll pass.

In 8 years at OSU, Gundy has only had 15 players drafted. 7 were 4th round or later.

As a previous poster said, Gundy has not had any top 25 recruiting classes. To win in the SEC you have to be an elite recruiter. Top 15 won't cut it because you'll be 8th in your own conference.

Strong seems to want this job. Give this guy our tools, our resources, and he will set this place on fire. I want a guy who has been told thanks for your time but we are going in a different direction.

We've spent enough years making excuses. If we hire this guy, if he failed he would have done so by firing every bullet in the chamber. He wouldn't quit and roll over.

If true, this would make me want him more than the rest. Sounds like he wants to be back in the SEC and make UT's name relevant again. He wants the challenge, let him have it.

Heard yesterday that he might get an interview, but I don't know that he will. I don't have any confirmation of any scheduled talks.

- Hubbs on Mora Jr. I'm getting the vibe we aren't seriously persuing candidates that have only been at their latest spot one year. Seems to be a pattern. Just an observation...

Hart will see to it that he does bring in some top recruiters. It does speak volumes of the man's coaching ability.

Actually, I'm pretty sure whoever the HC is, that person will have the responsibility of appointing his coordinators and assistants, not Hart.

I've seen Butch Jones name again. Nothing substantial though. I wish someone from the Pac 234453 (12; joke) or the Big 10 (they forgot how to count; joke) would hire his ass. Tired of hearing about him. Good coach but not ready yet. IMO He needs to get out of Kelly's shadow and prove he can do it elsewhere first.

Anybody else think Strong may have gotten an offer from UT, but is giving UofL an opportunity to counter? Maybe that is why he is being so allusive and vague? No evidence, just a thought i had.
