I still think that is why Mora is a huge question mark. I don't think its the money, I think its the stability Hart is looking for. The last thing needed right now is a great hire that just bounces the next year, leaving us here again. Probably explains why some of the candidates on the list are older (60's etc) and the younger ones like Gundy are in play for so much damn money. Gotta get a good one here and then just as important, gotta keep him here.

out of all the names i heard mora jr would be the best fit for UT and the SEC.

Dave Hart is out of his d*** mind if he pays Gundy $4-5 million dollars.

I think it's interesting that Fedora is a top name for them. I like him, but I think that all the names rumored here are capable of doing well.

1a. Strong
1b. Fedora
3. Mora, Jr.

4. Gundy

5. Fisher - He's leveraging these offers with FSU, IMO, doubt he makes a move.

Gundy would make me question who I root for next year. I just don't think he will fit here. It has to be an ace recruiter and that is not something hes known for.

Anyone ever look at the sportsnation polls on ESPN homepage? One of the questions today was asking if Gundy seemed to be a good fit for the vacant Tennessee job.

At any rate, what is so special about Mike Gundy? He's a man? The guy hasn't done a thing that would warrant my attention when looking for someone to take over a major SEC program.

From TOS:
Orginally posted by OrangeRev: Hart is not in the office this morning.

Fisher is in his office this morning.

Logical deduction is that Hart is interviewing someone this morning, and his name is not Fisher.
Anyone care to guess who it might be? I would venture to guess that it could be Fedora or Mora.

Maybe he just finished his morning cup(s) of coffee, and now he's taking a dump?

Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but someone "not being in his office" and being "out of office" are totally different things.

What would be everyones opinion if UT hired Jimbo Fisher and he brought in Gene Chizik as his DC?

Agree 100%. I don't see or understand what is so special about the guy. His resume doesn't jump off the page plus he lucked up getting Weeden from baseball. I simply don't get it. Plus you have to pay him twice his worth IMO. Pickens bumping his salary to this level makes him unhirable to me.

After the rumors of the expected payout to Gruden and the failed bid to land him, coaches looking at Tennessee have some leverage.

Agents and prospective coaches know that we are in a bad situation and have the money to spend. No matter who we hire, he is going to get a deal in the $4 million-$5 million ball park.

Whoever comes in as coach had better bring with them or assemble an all star staff, especially if its Gundy.

Hubb's response to the Gundy interview cancelling news...

Not sure what time he does it, but I believe he has visited or is visiting with Arkansas. At least that's what I'm told.

Did you look at what OK State did before he arrived and what he has done since?

I would compare OK State to say Ole Miss or Miss Sate in the SEC as far as how they have been perceived over the years in the Big 12,Big 8. They are the red-headed step child of Oklahoma. What Gundyhas done at OK State really stands out. He has the program stabilized and at it's highest points long-term that it has ever achieved.

Only way I'd possibly not get pissed at a Gundy hire is if you told me his D coordinator would be Ellis Johnson (or same caliber).

I was just going over UF's staff in 2003 to see if Strong may have other connections if he took the job at UT.

Of course Ron Zook is a name that has already been mentioned but the RB coach at UF during this time was Mike Locksley.

That would be crazy if Strong could have a staff of Graham, Hinshaw or Tee, Pittman, and Locksley on the offensive side... and maybe convert Staley to Secondary coach. I think Staley is earning his keep.

All speculation. Just thought it was interesting.

A) in Vegas with but not officially with Lamonte
B) in Nashville in talks with franklin's agent C. Travis
C) in The Ville hammering out the details to make chuck (not chucky) our new coach
D) in DC helping Congress avoid the fiscal cliff after proving it IS humanly possible to cut useless spending and come up with money for things that actually can make a difference.

As we learned in school. When in doubt always go with C

I would compare OK State to say Ole Miss or Miss Sate in the SEC as far as how they have been perceived over the years in the Big 12, SWC. They are the red-headed step child of Oklahoma. What Gundyhas done at OK State really stands out. He has the program stabilized and at it's highest points long-term that it has ever achieved.

This is accurate. I know a lot of OU fans who made fun of LSU for hiring Miles because they viewed him as the little brother, much the way some of us view Franklin. Gundy has definitely exceeded what Miles did there and turned it into a perennial top 25 team.

I don't think it will be that much harder to win here than it is in Stillwater.

Might be interviewing Fedora this morning. Just a guess no link. Apparently the interview has not been conducted to this point.
