Strong>Gundy

It's laughable when people give big12 teams/coaches a pass for playing no defense, do you guys think they say "Hey, we're in the Big12 we are suppose to suck at defense lets not worry about that, lets worry about putting up 80 a game"? No, part of the game is stopping teams & Gundy has proven that his teams can't stop a nosebleed.
Again, Les Miles had the 10th ranked defense in the big 12 his final year and in the SEC he has one of the best defenses in the country. Utah under Urban Meyer never broke the top 40 in defense. There is another example.

Gundy beat Andrew Luck and RGIII. He also beat Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, Bill Snyder, Gary Patterson, Mark Richt, and Tommy Tubberville. I don't know how you can say he wouldn't be a good hire.

Mike Gundy is a spiked haired 40 yr old man douche.. But in all seriousness, who do you think will have Tennessee playing for SEC titles.. Strong or Gundy? Strong has the tools to do it, leadership, defense, top southeastern recruiting.

I don't get the love for Strong... I think he's a decent coach, but he's not a difference maker kind of coach. Besides, If defense is his forte, Louisville is middle of the pac in the the crappiest conference in most of the defensive stats.

I think he'd be a good fit for Tennessee if we were a half decent team, but Tennessee needs a type of coach that can lift this program up from the dump it's in...

I wouldn't trust him to be able to. My point is Strong is a better option IMO.

Strong may be a better option, and personally I'd probably prefer Strong over Gundy but Gundy would be a very good hire. On paper, Gundy blows not just Strong, but a lot of coaches out of the water.

He has almost put more players in the NFL than Bob Stoops, eventhough Stoops has been coaching 7 years longer.

He was 1 win away from going to a National Championship and that loss could be contributed to the plane crash that killed Ostate's bball coach and other members.

He has won at a high level in the second best bcs conference in college and has beaten some very good coaches.

Smh

It didn't work for Dooley.. 2nd best offense in Tennessee history and the "miracle D coordinator in Sal" was a bust.
It worked wonders for Petrino and Dooley couldn't get a good hire because it was a sinking ship and 7 assistants just left. Why would a good defensive coordinator take such a risky job? Dooley had to take a chance and failed, Gundy won't have to take a chance.

So would you take Chip Kelly?

According to 247, one major college assistant coach believes that Hart will sit down with Bo Pelini in New York this week.

So sounds like thats a possible interview but far from anything concrete.

I don't see why all the love for Pelini. At least 3 loses each year in the big10 and Wisconsin just hung 70 on him. It's not like Nebraska recruits all mid tier players. I'm not on the Gundy bandwagon either.

He lives! Lol.

Hear anything about how Strongs interview went? Still looking like Strong or Jimbo are our next coach?

Well Coach Gundy just told all of America today in his weekly teleconference that he wouldn't dicuss the interviews. I doubt that made his recruits feel very solid.

If he is planning on possibly coming here, then I think he should find a way to not lie to the players. He has adamantly told Bridgewater he would be back, too. If he's telling the truth, then I don't know why he's interviewing, unless he's just going for that $$$ match that Jurich promised to do to keep him there. This is not looking great, IMO, but fortunately we are still in on multiple good candidates, and who knows, maybe he is lying to his players, and somehow we should feel good about that.

It's easy to say you don't plan on going anywhere when you don't have an offer. When/if Hart offer's strong, his "plan" could change in a hurry.

1.) Proven winner while coaching in the SEC
2.) Real good DC
3.) Knows the SEC and how they play
4.) Level headed and not a jack ass
5.) Fairly young

He is not going to get the recruits at Nebraska like they had in the past, that was the 80s and 90s.

Exactly. Hard not to give an honest answer without an offer. Recruits should ask him if he's actively looking for another job. That's the real question.

I thought his only head coaching gig was Nebraska, i'll admit i never kept up with Pelini.

Hearing things went really well with Gundy yesterday. I'm all for Strong or Mora. Hart plans on interviewing Mora within the next few days.

How confident are you a hire will be made this week?

I think Strong will accept if offered, kind of hoped they went ahead and sewed him up over the weekend. Not sure if Mora or Gundy will, doubtful about Fisher but not the same degree. Mora a 1st year coach mentioned in the COY conversationand Fisher seems to have a pretty good thing going at Fl. St.

Mora is very interested in this job. He will never make at ucla what he can make at Tennessee if he does well. He wants to be somewhere that football is #1. UCLA is a BB school first.
