Personally, I can roll with Gundy, Strong or Fisher. It's all about who they surround themselves with. Your staff can make or break you. Ask Coach Fulmer.

Hope so! He's my guy.
Well stay away from the Gruden threads...those guys get easily upset if you tell them what has already been reported...

I like Strong too...great coach, Dungee gave him a great compliment, and Strong can go into places like Memphis and Florida for talent.

Ala. DE Finesse Middleton flips pledge from Ole Miss to UofL, says Strong is staying | Recruiting

Louisville just flipped a Ole Miss 2-star DT and this was in the interview

Middleton, a 6-foot, 249-pound player, said U of L coach Charlie Strong was excited to get the news of his commitment on Sunday night after Middleton returned home. He said Strong – a name mentioned as a potential candidate for multiple coaching vacancies – told him he’d be staying at U of L, an assurance that Middleton wanted to get and sought out point-blank.

“He was like, ‘I ain’t going nowhere no time soon,” Middleton said. “… I asked him straight up if he was going to leave or had any intention of leaving, and he said, ‘no.’”

Obviously no coach would tell a kid who commited to their current program that he is leaving, but it isn't a good sign. It is bad if he is willing to tell commits straight up lies and then leave, and it is also bad as a sign he is not coming to Tennessee. Double edged sword.

I think it's easy to see that by far the top 3 candidates are Fisher, Gundy, & Strong. When you compare all 3 resumes together I don't see how anyone couldn't say Strong has the best ATP. You might be able to make an argument for Fisher but I think Strong is the "best" candidate.

I think we can realistically remove Fisher from that list. What does he really have to gain by leaving FSU?

He's hands down the best for this year's recruiting class, no doubt about it. He's in on a lot of elite talent that also likes UT.

Wow. Mixed feelings now.

no coach would say "man, i'd like to have you, but i am trying to peace out of here so we'll see bro" in that situation. none.

Well Coach Gundy just told all of America today in his weekly teleconference that he wouldn't dicuss the interviews. I doubt that made his recruits feel very solid.

If he is planning on possibly coming here, then I think he should find a way to not lie to the players. He has adamantly told Bridgewater he would be back, too. If he's telling the truth, then I don't know why he's interviewing, unless he's just going for that $$$ match that Jurich promised to do to keep him there. This is not looking great, IMO, but fortunately we are still in on multiple good candidates, and who knows, maybe he is lying to his players, and somehow we should feel good about that.

Forget my last post, my math was wrong. Gundys defense over the past 6 seasons averages out at 84th in the Nation. Still not impressive though.

I don't get the hate for him at all. He had the first 11 win season in school history in 2011 and followed that up with a 12 win season and defeated Stanford in a BCS bowl. All at a school that falls short of the tradition and recruiting advantages that we have. I think he's a home run hire, along with Strong and Fisher.

Fisher would be third there for me. Still don't see why that hire would happen, from either direction.

Just because his defense is like that in the big 12, doesn't mean it'll be like that in the SEC. He is going to run the best scheme to win him games and in the big 12, that is outscoring your opponents. Les Miles was 10th in defense in the big 12 his last year at Oklahoma State.

I don't see how you're not impressed with a guy with wins over head coaches many on here are clamoring for such as Stoops and Shaw.

He has also put in a ton of players in the NFL. A lot of them start such as Russel Okung, Justin Blackmon, Dez Bryant, Brandon Pettigrew, and Brandon Weeden.

Strong>Gundy

It's laughable when people give big12 teams/coaches a pass for playing no defense, do you guys think they say "Hey, we're in the Big12 we are suppose to suck at defense lets not worry about that, lets worry about putting up 80 a game"? No, part of the game is stopping teams & Gundy has proven that his teams can't stop a nosebleed.
