Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

I agree. I couldn't believe the inside knowledge some people actually had of the moonshine trade.

I honestly thought before moonshiners broke big, that just a few of us up here in the hills knew of Popcorn.

Turns out, this moonshine thing is pretty big. Who knew!
I agree with your agreement! This thread has been entertaining - wish I knew where to get some good rasberry or cherry moonshine right now! I know I'm not ever gonna go to the trouble of making it myself!

Agreed patience here is the answer. Not the first time rumors have been said a coach is coming then he shoots it down for whatever reason and in the end the man that said "no" comes. I've said it before but does anyone remember Alabama and the saban saga or urban myer and Ohio State? So much smoke I can't see the 5 ft in front of me

I totally agree. The big boosters have to feel the same way we do about some of these second tier guys. Are they going to be willing to invest in them? Would you?

I know Thunder is upset over the useage of the Thorton building, if he was not one of the boosters wanting Gruden, perhaps he was one of the sources to the paper there. Sure would be one way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, turn the heat up on Hart and nix the Gruden deal all at the same time.

Gman. Do you have any hope left for Gruden to UT?

Not the same at all. Dooley had a losing record at Tech and was never a coordinator. Strong was a DC at our biggest rival and is winning a semi BCS conference.
But how does that translate to being a lights out recruiter? Nothing from him says great recruiter but some on here are ready to anoint him as such just because at TN he would be in the SEC and that would make ALL the difference.

Without great recruiting, we will continue on our path to mediocrity. I just don't see Strong as that great recruiter.

Really? Then why aren't they going to Louisville?

You're not just basing your decision on the coach, but the school along with the coach. Not a lot of players going to play for Saban at an FCS school. Not enough tv exposure and chances are lower to get to the league.

JMO, but Alabama is more likely to beat ND than GA is. More NC's for the SEC equates to more top recruits in the SEC which, by default, can only help the Vols.

We use to have a golf tourney every year up here in the "hills" where they put out Cherry at every tee box.

Needless to say, I do not like Cherry now after some of those ROUGH afternoons.

Rasberry is lovely though! agreed!

Why would the boosters shell out over 30 million total dollars to get Charlie strong or Fedora when you wouldn't need half that to bring them on board.

Your opinion of whether is the right guy is totally cool. I was just saying that the article is accurate as far as the interest of Gruden in the coaching job, which is what a lot of people here are arguing about.

And if by honorable you mean old school journalistic integrity, then you are correct. Sadly, most "news" outlets are more concerned with splash than fact.

Except in Knoxville. When is the last time they broke a story that wasn't handed to them? (as far as sports). They just rehash stuff someone else dug up.

Except they wont. They will be just like everyone on here talking about staying home and not going to games. Thats all good until next August when the opening game is coming uo lol.

Do we have to post pictures of Neyland with all the empty seats?

The fans showed where they stood on Dooley and will do it again in a heart beat except this time it will be even worse if a lackluster hire is made.
