If all that money is there then there is no reason why UT cant have "all star" coaches at every position....

Here is the point that I saw: hanging hope on one reporter from a very minor newspaper who is adamantly supporting his position. It proves that he believes what he was told. That is honorable, and certainly better than posting misinformation on a message board.

Id love to believe that he is right. Except that after I have come down on my Gruden induced sugar high, I am not so certain that there aren't much better coaches out there for a program that is in the shape that we are in. JMO.

Your opinion of whether is the right guy is totally cool. I was just saying that the article is accurate as far as the interest of Gruden in the coaching job, which is what a lot of people here are arguing about.

And if by honorable you mean old school journalistic integrity, then you are correct. Sadly, most "news" outlets are more concerned with splash than fact.

Agree completely! He brings years of understanding of collegiate athletics including the needs and wishes of coaches and he is a true Vol who bleeds as orange as anyone.
He is a fantastic hire for AD.
I would trade Hart for him right now!

I am guessing that strong will be second in line after fisher. I hope not because strong is clearly my top choice. We cant afford a public offer to fisher being turned downed. I think we find out by mid week.

He was told by his sources the assistant pay was the sticking point and Hart wouldn't budge. He was very adamant and extremely believable in his story.

Agreed patience here is the answer. Not the first time rumors have been said a coach is coming then he shoots it down for whatever reason and in the end the man that said "no" comes. I've said it before but does anyone remember Alabama and the saban saga or urban myer and Ohio State? So much smoke I can't see the 5 ft in front of me

let's see how this plays out first...then....maybe it's time to get a Tennessee guy in that position.
