EVEN IF WE CAN'T GET GRUDEN
I am a new volnation member but a long time "lurker". I went to my first UT game with my dad in '76 later attended UT and went to med school at UT. In short, like most of us here I love my vols!
This slow decline beginning at the end of Fulmer and through the last two hiring a to me seem like a modern day bloodletting where the spirit and vigor of the entire volnation has been bleeding out. I think some of are clinging on to the idea of Gruden more than the man himself. I am desperate for someone who can reinstill the excitement and passion back to UT. This swagger is t only on the field but bleeds into pride on campus and the classroom. Anyone who thinks academia on the hill and pride on the field are separate are misinformed.
We want....more desperately need a coach to bring us back to life. I don't want a guy with " "promise" I want a guy who will ignite us. At this critical hour in our university and football program we need a battle cry to rally behind. The gruden thread has how many hits?.... I have been watching 5-6 thousands fans on the thread in the wee hours of the morning. This is the spark!!!! It's here we just have to harness it. When we have the excitement recruits and students alike don't consider us.... They hope to be one of us. This is what we need. Sadly gruden is the hire that I think does this right now. I still pray we get him, but if we don't I also pray we don't just take another "why not this guy with promise"
This hire is of paramount importance and I hope we get it right this time.
Go vols!
Well I don't know. Strong is a very good coach but I think for that kind of money there are others that could be had for that or maybe a little more. Remember we are approaching Saban, Stoops and other premium coaches. Would you put Strong in their category? I would make a call to Chip Kelly and see if he would listen. I have read he is ridiculously under paid. Worst case you get him a raise. Lol
Just in case you have doubts...and although you may have been kidding, please do not associate me with being racist...EVER.
I respect everyone on an equal level til proven differently. Thank you

Call me naive, but Would Hart put his job on the line like this? What's it to him who the Boosters want, if they are footing most of the bill? The only scenario that even works for me (IF this is true) would be that there were too many leaks and Hart/agent devised a plan to shut everyone up by saying it is all over, while waiting for the time to announce.
And that doesn't work for me, because I don't know why Gruden would even need to stall?

LOL OCI popped in and posted. Should get a post from Yay4Bray,Gay4Bray, whatever his name is now jumping in and saying its still done and regurgitating what OCI posted.
Please just hire Strong and lets get this over with.
Serious question: What have the OG's said about the latest events? Have their sources explained how a "done deal" covered with "smokescreens" became a "fantasy world" claim? Finally, why would the fans blame Hart if Gruden doesn't come unless we have absolute proof that Hart screwed it up?
So folks from the AD side were just hanging on to those nuggets of information until they needed to drop them to the media yesterday? They didn't just realize all of that on Thursday morning over coffee. I know people from that side have been watching the message boards. With that in mind, if they felt that Jon was just playing with them why not calm the fan furor? Why wait until after the TFP article to start covering down with the media. To many things about the media statements don't add up.
