Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

I could be way off the mark here, but what about Gruden being the spokesman of Hooters and Corona? That has to be ALOT of money in those two deals alone. I dont think he could be our coach with those deals in place. Could this be more of a reason for delay than even the TB checks. What say you volnation?

hope is fine. I've always hoped it would happen, but was pretty sure he wouldn't make the jump for a couple of simple reasons. Not money. Not control.
The guarantees about mou's and blame on Hart or whomever in regards to this Gruden deal should stop though.

I can't disagree, but people are going to talk about it. It is part of the mourning process.

I don't know anyone to dislike them and I don't take this stuff as serious as some. That's where a disconnect often is. If I respond, it's to something said in a post, not personal.

I think some people on here got caught up and carried away with the whole deal, and I don't really think that's up for debate, tbh.

Agreed.

He should have stated that early on then instead of stringing things along till it got out of hand. I don't think he just woke up and said "Naw...I don't think so". Something happened in a hurry to make it go south. I think it was either the leaks to the media or he didn't think he could work with Hart.

Leaks to media? And he hasn't met or talked to Hart, so I don't know how he would assume he couldn't work with him, unless he wanted to be sans boss and that's not how it works on the college level.

Again, that's just a weak way, imo, to look at a situation, which is to look to blame someone. Someone always has to be blamed in todays world. It can't just not work out because he didn't want to move his family and get out of the mnf booth to start chasing kids all over the country. It has to be somebody else's fault, and I find that annoying.

I read somewhere were on Twitter that Hart had interviewed 2 different coaches since wed. if so who are they anyone heard. Was it Gruden and someone else or 2 other coaches period.

I am forever pollyanna. Vols can be down 40-7 in the fourth quarter, and I'll try to think of ways they can win. I will accept the new coach without a doubt, but still can't help but hope that this is one of those Saban/MEyers thing.

I'm guessing this is true so I
Am officially coming to my senses and off the Gruden train.
Just going to keep quiet cause I can't even trust what I know from the top boosters anymore.
Sorry to those who felt misled....it definitely wasn't on purpose. I just can't believe we are dumb enough to let a Bammer ruin our program. How you don't have Gruden at top of your list is beyond me. Good luck and I'll be lurking til we get a new coach in place. A Vol fan for life.....regardless how low we fall. Get behind our new coach, whomever that is and climb back up the mountain. Go Big Orange!

My uncle lives in Chatt and told me earlier that there were RUMORS that Hart is gone after Dec. because of the lawsuit filed due to the firing of the girls administrative assistant and the forced step down of Summit. And that UT is going to lose the lawsuit due to the disabilities act. Does anyone know anything about this?

anybody?

The only Chief players I care about are EB and Dustin Colquitt.

Doesn't open the door to be disrespectful to another player and his family the day the incident happened. I'm all for hilarious puns and jokes but hours after is kinda weak.

Then why is he making this hire and why is he not gone today?

Let's move on. It's been fun.

No, they did not. OV, Boro, Jay, DTO, Lex, Gman, and whoever else I left out have said from the beginning that the decision was made on Dooley after Miss St, and from their understanding, it didn't matter what happened the rest of the season. They never backed off of that point or anything else they said about what info they received.

Can't vouch for the rationale or info of others, but the reason people knew DD was fired after MSU is bc that is when JG agreed to come...thereabouts. If they were that far along with JG it was obvious what the plan was. Not sure what Hart was thinking, bug it was inevitable.

Well, I will leave you today with a Tony B. quote...he has been mocked for being all over the map but the one thing he said the whole time is this thing is not a done deal as some have said. He hasn't gone to extremes either way. I communicated with him last night and he said simply "not over yet".

IMO, come this time next week and we don't have a HC, then Gruden is a possibility again. Right now, I just don't see it. If you do a search and look for Liper's and Dr. h Lector's posts, they pretty much spell everything out. Something happened Wednesday night that went sour.

I've been lurking the whole time. But you getting my hopes up is the best I've felt as a vol fan for about 6 years.
