Hart doesn't have a say in this, as much as some want to believe. If he doesn't hire Gruden, he'll be fired. Book that.
This is amazing. Yes our director of athletics DOES have a say in who will be hired. And no he will not be fired if Gruden is not the coach. Lol, wow

We'll see.

Anyway, strong's OC anyone?

Shawn Watson finished last season(11) as oc after being hired as qb coach. I can't really paste stats from mobile but I would imagine he would be in the running for it. At least on the offensive staff somewhere. My guess, since strong hired and promoted him, would be qb coach again or continue with oc under strong.

Hubbs said that nothing is going on with Stoops. Also his comments on Fisher make it look like a long shot there too. Not a surprise. I guess the info Carlos got today wasn't accurate.

Hubbs has been much maligned on this board, but he has done a great job on this search.

Hes great about checking his sources and not getting carried away with rumors

I seem to recall he also had a lot of caution about this years football team and expectations, particularly on defense.

Chaney is a good OC, and I like him a lot. I think his style definitely has a place somewhere. Unfortunately, that place is not here in the SEC. We need more of a power attack. I don't want to give up on the deep ball at all, but I also want to see more reliance upon some muscle in the trenches. Too often this year Chaney gave up on our muscle.

Because that's what he wants. That's why you pay him that. It's not coming from Hart, it's coming from the boosters that have put up the $ to get this deal done. Big $ people want Gruden and have put up the cash for it to happen. Hart doesn't have a say in this, as much as some want to believe. If he doesn't hire Gruden, he'll be fired. Book that.

Hart has all the say in this. He will have a coach hired soon, Gruden or no Gruden. If anyone thinks Hart will wait around until possibly January for an egomaniac to make up his mind, you're wrong.

Chaney? They could keep the staff in tact on offense if they really wanted to. Not sure they would though.

I think we could pay good money for top OC to.

I know we could pay top dollars for an oc.. But strong would be the one hiring him. And I don't think for a second they will keep many parts from previous staff. Graham, pittman.. Anyone else?

I would suspect that Chaney would be considered a top offensive coordinator by most head coaches. If he had run the ball more, I'd like him a lot better. Hard to fault the offense this year, though. They kept us in most games.

Actually, I wouldn't mind the whole offensive side of the staff staying. We could do a lot worse!

If Hart doesn't have a say, why would he be fired if we don't get Gruden? I dont know that I follow.

I also don't think Gruden wants to be here. If he did, he'd lighten up on these demands (assuming there are demands).

All the say? Really? Peyton Manning, Haslem, Ergen, Thornton and friends don't have any say? hmmm ok.

I'm glad. Personally, I like Hart. I think he made a mistake letting these rumors build, but I like that he isn't a pushover.

I trust he will hire a good coach.

Gruden was always a dream.

If they have that much say, why isn't Gruden our coach?

I really doubt Gruden is sitting somewhere thinking, Gee, I wish Dave Hart would let me coach Tennessee.

You guys have been waiting all day to bump my posts huh? haha that's fine.

I believe the boosters have the majority of say in a pivotal coaching hire like this, not a newly hired AD. That's just my opinlon. You might not agree, that's fine. Since I believe that...if Hart doesn't listen to the big money boosters and hires someone else he's putting his job in jeopardy. That's what I believe. You don't have to.

He still might be. Has Hart hired someone else already? I must have missed the presser.
